From the history of the creation of the variety

Climbing Aloha was bred by German breeders in 2003. Cordes specialists crossed the Westerland rose and the Rugelda hybrid of the rugosa rose. Already in 2006 in France, the variety was awarded a certificate of honor.

Description and characteristics of the Aloha rose

Culture shoots reach a height of 2.5 meters. The width of the bush spreads up to 100 centimeters. Leaves are green and glossy. Inflorescences consist of 5-10 flowers, the diameter of which reaches 10 centimeters. Petals are painted in tones of orange-pink palette. During flowering, a delicate aroma emanates from the bush.

There are a large number of thorns on strong shoots. The peculiarity of Aloha is that flowering occurs twice a year. It withstands both the southern heat and the climate in temperate latitudes.

Subtleties of growing crops

Purchase seedlings in plant nurseries or garden centers from reliable sellers. The age of plants should not exceed 1-2 years, otherwise it will be harder for them to take root.

When and where to plant

Plant a rose in open ground in spring or autumn. The place is selected sunny, protected from cold winds. The flowers are prone to fading, so the area should be shaded on a hot afternoon.

Pay attention! The rose is planted on some elevation, otherwise the root system may rot.

Preparation of planting material

The seedling is placed in a bucket of water. To disinfect the plant, add a few crystals of potassium permanganate. Too long roots are pruned. Shoots are shortened to 15-20 centimeters.

Planting instructions

The Aloha Rose is planted on the plot like this:

  • dig a hole measuring 50×50 centimeters;
  • pour a layer of expanded clay or small stones;
  • the pit is half filled with fertile substrate;
  • the seedling is placed in the middle, the roots are straightened;
  • fall asleep with earth up to the root neck.

The plant is watered abundantly, the root circle is mulched with peat or sawdust.

Difficulties in plant care

Care consists in watering, fertilizing, loosening the earth, removing weeds. Faded buds, to maintain the decorativeness of the plant, are removed. After the first wave of flowering, shoots are pruned. The procedure promotes the formation of lateral branches with young buds.

Desired humidity

High humidity can damage the plant. With frequent top irrigation, there is a possibility of powdery mildew appearing on the bush. For this reason, water is poured only under the root.

About watering and feeding

Water the Aloha rose after the top layer of the earth dries out. If the soil does not have time to dry out, putrefactive microorganisms can affect the root system. 2-3 buckets of water are poured under the bush. Feed the culture up to 5 times per season. In the spring, nitrogen is used to build green mass. Then mineral fertilizers are applied with an advantage in the composition of potassium and phosphorus.

Pruning and wintering

In early spring, old, diseased, frozen shoots are pruned. 5-10 buds are left on young branches. In the spring, they will begin to bloom abundantly. Old shoots are shortened to 2-3 buds. For the procedure, disinfected secateurs are used.

Adult rose withstands the winter cold well. It is enough to spud it with peat, compost. If severe frosts are expected, spruce paws are laid out around the bush, the stems are bent to them, and fixed. The structure is covered with agrofibre.

Important! In order for the rose to safely endure the cold, water-charging watering is carried out in the middle of autumn.

Plants Suitable for Neighborhood with Aloha Rose

The culture bush is tall, so undersized plants beautifully coexist with it. It can be evergreen or deciduous shrubs, annual or perennial flowers.The orange-pink inflorescences of Aloha are effectively shaded by the colors of the blue palette: sage, lavender, bluebells.

Reproduction rules

The easiest way to propagate the Aloha climbing rose is by layering. The procedure is performed as follows:

  • make a groove 7-10 centimeters deep;
  • lay the stem, secure with a wire staple;
  • fall asleep with earth.

Care consists in watering, loosening, removing weeds. After a while, young bushes will appear. They are separated with a shovel, transplanted to a new place.

Landscape use

Aloha rose is planted near buildings with supports: arches, arbors, pergolas, columns. To maintain the decorative appearance of the bush, the stems are tied up. Effectively, the culture will look like a tapeworm against the background of a lawn.
