How to make feijoa wine at home

Winemakers actively use two recipes for tasty and aromatic wine: the standard method and the variant with citric acid. Each of them has its own characteristics and secrets.

Easy recipe

The alcoholic product is prepared on the basis of the following products:

  • 1 kg fresh berries.
  • 1 kg of sugar.
  • 2 liters of pure and filtered water.
  • 1 teaspoon of tartaric acid.
  • 1 spoon of yeast.
  • 4 spoons of wine yeast.

The cooking process is simple:

  1. Peel the feijoa, use a sharp knife to cut the flesh into pieces.
  2. Squeeze the resulting mass until juice is obtained.
  3. Dilute the drink with prepared water.
  4. Pour granulated sugar into the base for the alcoholic product, mix the workpiece until the crystals dissolve.
  5. Pour yeast and tartaric acid into wine. Leave the workpiece in a warm room for 1 day.
  6. In a saucepan, combine 1 tablespoon of yeast and 2 cups of hot water, mix the mass and pour it into the berry juice.
  7. The resulting blank is left for 1 week, after a while the sediment that appears on top is removed.
  8. Send the wine to infuse for another couple of days, and then put it in the refrigerator for knocking.
  9. Strain the drink, fix the water seal and leave the alcoholic product again for 1-2 months.

After that, the wine is filtered again and poured into glass vessels.

With added citric acid

Delicious and juicy drink is prepared as follows:

  1. 2 kg feijoa peeled, cut into pieces.
  2. Put the pulp into the juicer and squeeze out the juice.
  3. Add 1 liter of water to it, add 2 kg of sugar, mix all components thoroughly.
  4. After dissolving the granulated sugar, you can pour 2 tablespoons of citric acid and 3 tablespoons of wine yeast into a container. Leave the workpiece for 12 hours.
  5. Remove the sediment that has appeared, place the container of wine again in a warm place for 1 week to activate the fermentation process.
  6. After a while, you will need to install a water seal and send the alcoholic drink to infuse for 2-3 months.

When time passes, the wine is filtered and poured into beautiful bottles. After that, it can be taken out to the cellar.

Terms and rules of storage

Homemade wine is best stored in a cool, well-ventilated area. For these purposes, a cellar, pantry or balcony is suitable. It is permissible to keep the drink in the refrigerator, but on condition that the temperature is set at 4-9 degrees Celsius. Higher or lower values can harm alcohol. The shelf life of the product depends on the method of preparation and storage conditions. On average, it reaches 2-5 years.

Further, the wine may become stronger, sediment appears on it, the contents become cloudy. In this form, it is better not to drink the drink.
