Cucumbers Claudia: characteristics and description of the variety, its yield with a photo

For the first time, vegetable growers tried cucumber Claudia f1 in 1999, for many it immediately became a favorite. The hybrid variety is distinguished by reliability and yield stability. Producers of Claudius f1 seeds have the following characteristics of a cucumber:

• universal (suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation);
• bush indeterminate (growth of lashes unlimited by inflorescence);

• tolerates slight shading normally;
• parthenocarpic (forms ovary without pollination by bees)
• disease resistant;
• high yield (10-20 kg/m2);
• early ripe (48-52 days);
• fruits are small (65-85 g, 10-12 cm), small tuberculate, tasty;
• suitable for canning and fresh consumption;

In 2015, the twin variety Cucumber Claudia Agro from Agrofirm Poisk appeared on the market. According to vegetable growers, no significant differences from the Claudius f1 hybrid were found.

Growing

Hybrid Claudia f1 pleases with crispy cucumbers throughout the season until the frost. The yield in open ground is stable at 10 kg or more. In protected ground, competent care will allow you to get more than 20 kg of marketable cucumber. In the southern regions, you can grow the Claudia f1 hybrid by direct planting in the ground.But the seedling method allows you to get the first cucumbers already in mid-June.

Seedlings

Growing seedlings allows you to extend the fruiting time of cucumbers for more than a month. The date for sowing seeds is calculated based on the conditions of the region and the method of cultivation. Usually this is the end of April - the beginning of May.

Among gardeners, dry heating of seeds for 1-2 months is popular. Such a procedure is indeed carried out on an industrial scale, but at home it is quite difficult to achieve a stable temperature. Hybrid seeds from trusted producers usually have high germination and do not need dry heating.

To speed up germination, seeds of the Claudia f1 variety can be pre-sprouted:

• seeds are poured for 15-20 minutes with water 50-60℃;
• if during heating in water some seeds floated, they are rejected;
• 2-3 layers of porous loose paper moistened with warm water;
• seeds are neatly laid out at a small distance from each other;
• top with another layer of damp paper;
• put the paper "vegetable" in a warm place (26-27 ℃) for a day;
• moisten a dried napkin.

The hatched seeds are planted in separate pots with a volume of 400-500 ml. Cucumber variety Claudia f1 loves loose, organic-rich, drained soil.

It's good if one of the components of the soil mixture is garden land from the planned garden. Then the seedlings will be easier to transplant and adapt.

Compost, humus, sand, sawdust are mixed with garden soil. At the bottom of each pot there should be many wide holes for unhindered draining of excess water. This will protect the seedlings from souring.

Seedling care includes:

• watering with warm water 20-24℃;
• extension of daylight hours with backlight;
• fertilizing with complex mineral fertilizer at the age of 2 weeks;
• hardening outdoors for a week before transplanting outdoors.

Planting seedlings in a permanent place is made at the age of three weeks. The bushes should already form 2-3 true leaves. It is better not to delay the transplant, overgrown seedlings of cucumbers do not take root well and the overall yield is lost.

Soil

Cucumber beds are prepared every year in a new place. Well, if last season cabbage, tomatoes, root crops grew here. Places after vegetables from the pumpkin family are not suitable for cucumbers.

In a greenhouse adapted for growing Claudia f1 cucumbers, it will be necessary to change the soil annually to a depth of 30 cm. This will protect the plants from most infections and pests.

Garden soil is lightened and enriched with organic components: sawdust, compost, peat, humus. The soil before planting cucumbers is plentifully watered with hot water.

Irrigation

Cucumbers moved to us from tropical rainforests, so they are very demanding on heat and watering.

On cool days, the Claudia f1 hybrid should not be watered, as most fungi infect this crop at temperatures below 17 ℃ and high humidity.

And on hot days, it is necessary to constantly monitor the condition of the soil and prevent drying out and the formation of a hard crust on the surface. The root of cucumbers grows in the upper layer, therefore it suffers from a lack of moisture and oxygen. Mulching plants with sawdust or peat will help improve soil aeration and reduce evaporation.

Shaping a bush

Cucumber seedlings of Claudius f1 are transplanted carefully, without disturbing the earthen clod with the root. 3-4 bushes in open ground should fit per 1 m2, 4-5 in the greenhouse.

Growth type of hybrid Claudia f1 is indeterminate. The lashes are drawn out long, the bush turns out to be quite powerful. Therefore, this hybrid is not very suitable for growing in a low greenhouse without support.

The easiest way is to use specially prepared complex mineral fertilizers for cucumbers. You can alternate mineral supplements with organic ones (infusion of mullein or bird droppings).

Clavdia f1 greens are not prone to overgrowing, but regular harvesting will allow new fruits to pour faster.

The ovary is formed in bunches of 2-3 cucumbers. Zelentsy are poured neat, small in size, usually do not exceed 10-12 cm. The skin is thin, bright green, finely tuberculate, without pronounced spikes. The taste of cucumbers is pleasant, sweetish, bitterness is excluded by breeders.
