Herbicide Corsair: instructions for use, consumption rates and analogues
Contact herbicides inhibit the aerial parts of weeds, so they are evenly sprayed on shoots and leaves. The substances of contact action include bentazon - the main active substance in the composition of the Korsar herbicide. The drug is used on crops of cereals, legumes, industrial, fodder crops to control weedy dicotyledonous annuals.
Composition, release form and purpose of the herbicide Corsair
Corsair is a contact type herbicide effective against dicotyledonous weeds. It is used on areas sown with cereals, legumes, fodder, industrial crops, copes with weeds that are immune to MCPA and chemicals based on 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid.
The active substance is bentazon. The drug is available as a concentrated, water-soluble liquid, poured into 10-liter canisters. Solution concentration - 480 g/l. Manufacturer - Russian company "August".
Mechanism of action of the remedy
Bentazon enters plant tissues through the surface of leaves and stems. Inhibits photosynthesis reactions in cells. As a result, the green mass dies off.
Impact speed
Noticeable signs of dying are noted after 3-4 days. Complete extinction of weeds on the site occurs in 10-12 days.
Protection period
Treated area remains clean until the second wave of weeds of the season.
Main advantages and disadvantages
Korsar herbicide is popular with farmers as it has the following benefits:
- does not have a toxic effect on cultivated plants, regardless of weather conditions;
- effective against almost all types of dicotyledonous weeds;
- does not imply strict application deadlines;
- can be used on cereal crops with inclusion of forage grasses;
- does not cause immunity in weed species.
Farmers do not note any particular disadvantages when using the Korsar herbicide.
Expenditure rate
The application rate is determined by the crop being treated against weeds.

The processing of the rice plantation is carried out when the cereal produces 2 leaves, and weeds - 3-5. To prevent the herbicidal solution from being washed off the surface of the leaves, the water level in the flood field is lowered to 1-2 cm before treatment.
After 2 days after spraying, the filling of the field with water is again made standard.
Preparation of the working solution and instructions for its use
Corsar herbicide treatment is carried out by spraying. The optimal time of work is the appearance of 3-5 true leaves in weeds. A single treatment is allowed during the growing season. Consumption of working solution - 200-300 liters per hectare of sown area.
The working solution is made before the work is done. Before opening the canister, the concentrate in it is thoroughly shaken. The tank of the spraying device is filled with water by a quarter, the required amount of concentrate is poured into it.The liquid is well stirred. During stirring, add water until the volume is filled.
Prepare a working solution in a protected area. After filling the tank, the site is cleaned.
Processing is carried out at an air temperature of 10-25 ° C and a wind speed of not more than 5 m / s. In cool and windy weather, the herbicide is less effective. Peas and some other cultivated species are more susceptible to the effects of the drug, so spraying is carried out on a cloudy day at air temperatures up to 20 ° C. Corsair should not be used if frost is likely at night.
Precautions
Herbicide Korsar refers to chemicals of the 3rd class of danger to humans, that is, it is a moderately toxic substance. Therefore, it is impossible to start processing the sown area without using standard protective equipment for the eyes, respiratory system, and skin.
First aid to a chemical victim:
- substance got on the skin - wipe it off with a piece of cloth or cotton swab, wash the body area with soapy water;
- in the eyes - spread the eyelids with your fingers and gently rinse the eyeballs with plenty of water;
- herbicide accidentally swallowed - rinse the mouth with water, induce vomiting, then immediately take activated charcoal (1 g of the drug per 1 kg of the victim's weight), drink plenty of water.
After first aid measures, even if you feel normal, you should visit a medical specialist.
For fish, hazard class 4 is a low-hazard substance. Therefore, the herbicide can be used to treat crops in the sanitary zone of reservoirs belonging to the fish farm.
Phytotoxicity, crop tolerance
If you follow the instructions and rules of use, then phytotoxicity is excluded.
Crops oppressed due to pathologies, adverse weather conditions and other negative factors should not be processed.
Possibility of resistance
The emergence of herbicide resistance in weeds is excluded.
Compatible with other products?
Corsair can be combined in a tank with neutral or alkaline chemicals. Mixing with drugs that have an acidic composition is unacceptable.
Medication storage conditions
Herbicide Corsair is stored in the canister in which it was purchased. For storage, choose a separate place where the chemical will be harmless to natural objects. Herbicide does not spoil at a temperature from -5 to +40 °C. Shelf life - 3 years if the canister is not depressurized.
Are there any analogues?
Korsar has analogues - contact herbicides based on bentazone:
- Bison;
- Bentogram;
- Bentasil;
- Granbaz;
- Bazagran;
- Bentus.
All of the listed drugs are effective against dicotyledonous weeds. They are well tolerated by cultivated vegetation, are characterized by a wide spectrum of action, are used on crops of cereals, legumes, fodder plants.
