Ditan M-45: instructions for use and composition of the fungicide, dosage and analogues

A contact fungicide belonging to the chemical group of dithiocarbamates is used to kill pathogens of late blight, dry spotting, and other fungal diseases. "Ditan M-45" is used both in large areas occupied by industrial crops, and in subsidiary plots. Potato and tomato bushes, vineyards are treated with a highly effective agent.

Manufacturer, form of production and composition

"Ditan M-45" is sold in hermetically sealed bags with a capacity of 25 kg. Contents - greyish-yellow powder for dissolution in water. Manufacturer - international chemical company Dow AgroSciences.

Active ingredient - mancozeb (compound of zinc, manganese and ethylene bisdithiocarbamate) - 800 g/kg.

Purpose and principle of operation

The drug "Ditan", acting contact, protects cultivated plants from fungal infections: late blight, peronosporosis, alternariosis. The active substance of the fungicide is not able to penetrate under the upper protective layer of the epidermis into the internal plant tissues, therefore, it is most effective at the initial stage of infection. For a long-term positive result, several treatments are necessary, since the duration of the fungicide is short.

The protective effect after treatment lasts 7-10 days with an intensive spread of infection and up to 14 days with a slight one.

In dry form, mancozeb is not active as a fungicide, but, when dissolved in water, it is converted into the active substance ethylene bisisothiocyanate sulfide, and under ultraviolet light it turns into ethylene bisisothiocyanate.

Both intermediate and final substances affect the enzymatic activity of fungal systems containing sulfhydryl groups. They block the flow of enzymatic reactions in mitochondrial cells and the cytoplasm of fungi. In particular, they inhibit the enzymes necessary for the synthesis of ATP. As a result, the development of fungal spores is inhibited.

No cases of development of immunity of fungal pathogens to the fungicide "Ditan" have been identified. The drug is actively used in anti-resistance programs: when used together with another fungicide, it inhibits the development of fungal species that have acquired resistance to the second drug.

In addition to the fungicidal action, "Ditan M-45" shows additional effects:

• zinc and manganese included in the structure of mancozeb improve photosynthesis, thanks to which the plant grows more actively, becomes more resistant to pathogenic microorganisms;
• mancozeb has some insecticidal effect, kills whitefly larvae in the initial stages of development, but does not affect butterflies, and also moderately inhibits spider mites.

Consumption rate and method of application

The required amount of fungicide must be dissolved in water. With continuous stirring, pour into the tank of the spraying device filled with water to ½. Continuing to stir, add water to the brim. Plants that show the first signs of a fungal infection are sprayed with Ditan M-45 fungicide on a clear day when there is no wind. Foliage is irrigated abundantly and evenly.

Consumption of working solution for potato and tomato bushes - 300-500 l/ha, for vine plantation - 800-1000 l/ha. The rules for the use of the drug and dosage are given in the table. /ha

It is desirable to spray potato plantations with Ditan fungicide in the second half of the growing season, when the probability of phytophthora damage is highest. On nightshade "Ditan M-45" is used after treatment with "Skor" and other fungicidal preparations that can penetrate plant tissues.

Grape bushes should be sprayed from bud opening to flowers. The last treatment should be no later than 20 days before harvest.

Ditan is resistant to precipitation, but in order for the active substance to be fixed on the leaf surface, at least 4 hours must pass from processing to rain. If it rained, dew fell, then processing should be started after the leaf plates have dried.

Ditan M-45 is most effective if the first treatment is carried out as a preventive, before signs of infection. Do not delay with repeated spraying, otherwise the fungal infection will have time to infect new shoots.

Precautions for use

"Ditan" is dangerous for the human body, warm-blooded animals, fish and crustaceans, is included in the 2nd hazard class. The fungicide is harmless to plants, soil and flying insects, beneficial microflora living in the soil. It is necessary to work with Ditan M-45 in standard protective clothing:

• closed working suit;
• plastic glasses;
• respirator;
• rubber gloves.

Do not eat, drink or smoke while working. Children and animals should not be nearby. The dishes in which the working solution was prepared cannot be used in the kitchen in the future. After completing the work, you need to wash your hands and face with a hygiene product, rinse your mouth.

Solution that gets on the skin or mucous membranes of the eyeballs should be washed off with plenty of water. In case of accidental ingestion of a fungicide, take activated charcoal, drink plenty of water, consult a physician to prescribe medication for food poisoning.

Compatibility of the drug "Ditan M-45"

Ditan easily combines with almost all fungicides, insecticides, dressings, root growth stimulants. The exception is alkaline and oil-based formulations.

Determining incompatibility is easy. If a precipitate forms during mixing, do not combine the drugs.

Fungicide storage conditions

Do not store "Ditan" in the first aid kit, among food, and also in a place where children can climb. The temperature at the place of storage must not exceed +35 °C. After the fungicide is consumed, the package must be burned.

Ditan M-45 remains usable for 3 years.

Ditan M-45 itself was created as an analogue of the action of the Profit fungicide based on famoxadone and cymoxanil. Also "Ditan" can be used as a replacement for Bordeaux mortar.
