Cherry Dacha: variety description and characteristics, planting and growing rules
Anonim

On the plots of domestic gardeners, cherry trees are quite common. These berries are among the first to ripen with the advent of warm summer days and allow you to saturate the body with vitamins. The fruits are not only consumed fresh, but also preserved for the winter. When choosing trees for placement on your plots, you should pay attention to the description of the Dachnitsa cherry variety. This variety has many benefits and is an early ripening variety.

History of selection

Yellow cherry variety Dachnitsa was bred by experts from the Ukrainian Institute of Irrigated Horticulture, located in the city of Melitopol. The author of the first seedling was Turovtsev N.I., who pollinated the Napoleon white variety with a mixture of pollen from 12 different varieties of cherries.

The new variety passed state tests in 1984. According to their results, sweet cherries are recommended for cultivation in the Astrakhan region and the North Caucasus region. However, the variety has acceptable indicators of drought resistance and frost resistance, therefore it is also planted by summer residents of other regions.

Description and characteristics of the variety Dachnitsa

Variety Dachnitsa belongs to varieties with yellow fruit color. They are less allergenic than red cherries, which is why they are especially popular.

Description and general characteristics of the cherry variety Dachnitsa:

  • ripening dates - from June 15-25 (depending on the region);
  • the crown of the tree is spreading, it has an average density;
  • yield - up to 50 kg per tree, subject to proper care and fertilization;
  • frost resistance - up to -30 degrees;
  • cherry height - up to 3.5 meters;
  • one berry weighs about 11 grams, its shape is round;
  • taste of the fruit is sweetish with a slight sourness, the flesh is juicy, creamy, the skin is yellow;
  • taster score - 4.6 points;
  • the stone is small and easily separated from the pulp;
  • the variety has an average resistance to damage by pathogens of fungal diseases;
  • fruits do not crack even if it rains for a long time;
  • the first fruiting is observed 4 years after the placement of the seedling on the site;
  • flower buds are not afraid of sudden spring frosts;
  • to obtain the crop declared by breeders, it is necessary to plant a number of pollinators, since the variety is self-infertile, such cherries as Drogana yellow, Talisman or Franz Joseph are suitable.

Pros and cons

Gardeners who have been growing the Dachnitsa variety on their plots for several years have identified several strengths of sweet cherries that distinguish them from other varieties.

Benefits they include:

  • taste of berries (sweet with slight sourness);
  • good fruit appearance and high transportability;
  • ability to easily separate the stone from the pulp;
  • low chance of being hit by a parasite like the cherry fly;
  • immunity to high humidity - the berries do not crack, even if it often rains;
  • medium resistance to fungal pathologies, in particular to coccomycosis and moniliosis;
  • high yield per cherry;
  • the possibility of using berries both for fresh consumption and for preparations for the winter in the form of compotes and jams.

Disadvantages of the Dachnitsa variety are much less than advantages, gardeners include the need to plant pollinators nearby and thin the crown annually, otherwise the yield drops.

Subtleties of growing crops

In order for a cherry variety to demonstrate the qualities declared by breeders, it is necessary to choose the right place for a young seedling and plant it, adhering to a certain algorithm.

Choice of location and planting material

It is recommended to buy seedlings of the Dacha variety in nurseries, in spontaneous markets there is a chance of getting a fake. They pay attention that the roots are alive, there are no signs of damage by diseases and pests.

It is better to purchase a specimen for landing, which is one or two years old. The seedling must have at least 3 branches with buds.

It is recommended to place purchased seedlings in a well-lit place, in the shade the fruits will form small and sour. Groundwater should be located at least 1.5 meters from the ground surface. A site is selected on a slight elevation, but protected from through cold winds. For good fruiting, sweet cherries need fertile soil with a neutral reaction.

Plant pattern

Planting holes are made in a checkerboard pattern, the recommended distance between trees is 3.5 meters.

Planting of seedlings is carried out according to the following algorithm:

  1. Make holes 60 cm deep and 80 cm wide.
  2. A layer of fertile soil is poured at the bottom of the pit and a support is immediately installed so that the young seedling does not break the wind.
  3. The tree is set in the middle of the hole and the roots are carefully straightened in different directions.
  4. The seedling is covered with prepared soil with fertilizers and rammed a little to fill all the voids.
  5. The tree is tied to a wooden support and a hole is made for watering.
  6. Irrigate planted cherries generously and lay a layer of organic mulch.

Rules for plant care

After the end of planting work, competent care is organized for Cherry Dacha, which includes the application of nutritional supplements, watering, pruning of broken and diseased twigs and crown formation.

Irrigation

Abundant irrigation of the Dachnitsa variety will be required three times a season - in the spring, before the flowers bloom, during the formation of berries and before preparing for the cold. Watering is carried out not with cold water, at intervals of a week, spending 20 liters of water on each tree.

Fertilizers

Without the introduction of nutrients, it will not be possible to harvest a high yield. Cherries are fed 3 times per season - in May, in July, after harvest, and in August.

When choosing fertilizers, it is worth remembering that nitrogen-containing fertilizers can only be applied in the first half of the growing season.

Pruning and crown shaping

The first pruning is started when the seedling reaches a height of 70 cm. After that, the shoots and lower branches are removed. When forming the crown, remember that on the second and third tiers there should be one less branch than on the first.

Preparing for winter season

Shelter is required for young trees, adult crops are resistant to low temperatures. The trunk is insulated with spruce branches or agrofibre.

Diseases and pests

This variety is rarely damaged by fungal pests and diseases of fruit crops. If this nevertheless happened, they purchase one of the following preparations in the garden shop for the treatment of cherries Dachnitsa - "Skor", "Signum", "Kvadris", "Topaz".

Collection and storage

The harvesting of fruits of the fruit tree starts in the 20th of June. Berries are stored in the refrigerator for a week, frozen for the winter or made compotes from fruits.
