Tomato Pink Magic f1: description and characteristics of the variety with photos and videos
Another novelty entered the market - pink magic f1 tomato. As the name implies, the description of this variety has glossy flat-round fruits of rich pink color. The mass of fruits is 200-250 grams, which is a fairly large size. The flesh of the fruit is fleshy, with a tart sweet taste. Great for fresh consumption.
This hybrid variety has excellent high temperature tolerance. The efficiency of fruit set does not depend much on the unfavorable conditions in which the tomato can be grown, which indicates a high yield of the variety.In addition, Pink Magic f1 tomatoes are resistant to cracking, customer reviews indicate this, they have good keeping quality during storage and transportation. A photo of the bush can be seen below.
Advantages and disadvantages of indeterminate varieties
Pink magic f1 tomatoes are an indeterminate hybrid. Such varieties of tomatoes are characterized by unlimited growth of the main stem. For a gardener, this means that in southern climatic zones or in heated greenhouses, such tomatoes can grow more than a calendar year, managing to bring a crop of up to 50 brushes during the fruiting period. Bushes of tomatoes such as Pink Magic must be formed by removing absolutely all stepchildren, leaving only the main stem.
Since indeterminate varieties bloom after the release of 9-12 true leaves, with the laying of flower stalks after every third leaf, it is necessary to provide the bush with a rather long daylight hours and space for the maximum number of ovaries on the stem in order to obtain the greatest yield.
When choosing one variety of tomato, you need to consider the region of your residence. In southern regions with a mild climate and long daylight hours, you can grow Pink magic both in a greenhouse and in the open field, tying tomatoes as they grow to trellises or high supports.
IMPORTANT: In central Russia and a little to the north, where the average temperature in summer does not exceed 23 degrees, this hybrid can be grown only in greenhouses, preferably in heated ones. In the northern regions with short daylight hours, it is better not to grow indeterminate varieties, as they, due to late flowering and fruiting, will not have time to fully reveal the potential of the variety.
Disease resistance
The Pink Magic hybrid is resistant to the most common tomato diseases that so often upset gardeners, because they simply nullify all efforts to get a good harvest. These are diseases such as:
- Alternaria mold fungus;
- bacterial blotch or dwarf tomato bushiness;
- grey leaf spot;
- fusarium root collar and root rot;
- verticillium wilt of tomato.
However, the resistance to these diseases introduced into the varietal characteristics of a variety is by no means a guarantee of 100% protection against them. Prevention is necessary, it just takes an order of magnitude less effort to carry it out, since the seeds themselves have already been treated with Tiram fungicide.
Bacterial blotch or dwarf bushiness of tomato affects planting material, so there is only one prevention here - do not plant diseased plants. The causative agents of other tomato diseases - Alternaria, Fusarium, Verticillium - are fungi. Pathogens are found in the soil, on plant residues in the form of mycelium, and can wait in the wings for several years.
Disease prevention measures
- Use only he althy seedlings;
- Plant tomatoes in soil that has not grown vegetables or strawberries for 4-5 years before;
- Spraying with fungicides, for example, 5% solution of copper sulfate, copper chloride, Fundazol, Topsin-M;
- Irradiation with sunlight, that is, thinning out plantings from stepchildren, maintaining the density of planting tomatoes.
Agrotechnology
Pink Magic, like all indeterminate tomatoes, is grown through seedlings. Seedlings are sown 50-55 days before being placed in a permanent place. Approximately the first half of March. Pink magic responds to slightly acidic soils, so the seeds are best sown in a lightly packed peat layer. After abundant watering, it is recommended to close the container with a film and leave it for seedlings in a dark place. As shoots appear, the film must be removed, and the germinated seeds should be placed in a bright place.
IMPORTANT: In the first week of seedlings, it is important not to overheat, the optimum temperature is 20 degrees.
Since the hybrid has a powerful developed structure of the bush, it is advisable to dive seedlings at the stage of releasing the second true leaf. It is optimal to plant seedlings of tomatoes in a permanent place when the earth warms up to 16 degrees. By this time, the seedlings will reach the age of 45 days. Seedlings can be planted in greenhouses at the age of 35 days or in the first half of April.
To create comfortable conditions, Pink magic should be planted no more than 2-3 bushes per square meter. Having come into full force and tied the first fruit, the bushes require top dressing with sodium-potassium fertilizers. Under favorable conditions for the hybrid, the ratio of sodium and potassium is sufficient 1:2, during hot and dry periods, the ratio must be increased to 1:3 in favor of potassium.
With these simple steps, the new hybrid f1 Pink Magic will delight you with a bountiful harvest of juicy and tasty tomatoes.
