Anonim

The Antonovka Medovaya tomato is unusual in its qualities, so it should be recommended to vegetable growers who grow original plants in their beds.

This tomato was bred by Russian breeders and is one of the few varieties with an unusual color of ripe tomatoes - green. The tomato was bred recently, so most summer residents have not yet planted a similar vegetable crop on their plots. And there is not much information about this tomato yet.

Description and main characteristics of the variety

Description of the variety should begin with the timing of fruit ripening. From the moment the first seedlings appear until the fruits ripen, it takes about 4 months, so Antonovka Medovaya is classified as a mid-ripening type of tomato.

Shrubs of determinant type, strong enough. The shoots are erect, medium leafy, can reach a height of 1.0-1.25 m when grown on garden beds. In closed ground, the stems can reach 1.4-1.5 m. The bushes are medium spreading, but they require mandatory tying to trellises or supports. It also requires the formation of shoots and the regular removal of stepchildren. Antonovka belongs to the universal tomatoes.

So far, summer residents are not familiar with such tomatoes, but nevertheless, in some places these unusual green fruits are already grown. The characteristics of ripe fruits should also be attributed to the advantages of the variety: rounded, slightly flattened tomatoes weigh about 200-220 g.The skin is quite dense, smooth, pale green with yellow streaks. On the cut of ripe fruits, fleshy, bright pink flesh is visible.

The characteristics of the variety will be incomplete without mentioning the taste of green tomatoes. In addition to the original appearance, the rich taste of the fruit is striking - sweet, with a slight taste of honey, with a pronounced honey aroma.

The original taste of ripe tomatoes gives salads and other appetizers an extraordinary flavor. The fruits are also used in canning.

It should also be noted the high commercial qualities of tomatoes of this variety. Harvest perfectly tolerates transportation over fairly long distances, without losing a good presentation and original taste. The bushes are quite resistant to most diseases that affect plants from the nightshade family.

Positive and negative qualities of Antonovka Medova

The undoubted advantages of the variety include:

  • reasonably high yields;
  • excellent original taste;
  • crop well endures transportation over long distances.

Although it is unusual for many to serve green tomatoes on the table (despite the excellent taste), but in the future this variety will become more popular, and no one will pay attention to the skin color of Antonovka Medova.

But these tomatoes also have disadvantages:

  • shoots should be tied to supports;
  • weak resistance to late blight.
