The breed of pigeons of the Krasnodar Territory was bred by Russian breeders. The predecessors of these birds are Turkish Tumblers. The opportunity to work with them arose due to the annexation of the Crimea, Azov and Kuban to Russian territory. War pigeons are valued for their special flying skills and other virtues. The name of the breed is explained by the fact that while tumbling in the air, the bird makes a characteristic sound with its wings, which is called a fight.

Description and characteristics of pigeons

The appearance of the pigeons of the Krasnodar breed has the following features:

  1. Elongated head.
  2. Forehead high, rounded.
  3. There is a forelock on the crown of the head. There are varieties without it.
  4. The color of the iris is black or light gray. The first option is typical for color-sided birds.
  5. The color of the feathers is varied - there are red, yellow, red, white, dark gray colors. There is a pattern on the sides or tail. Among the fighting pigeons, black white-tailed pigeons are not found.
  6. The eyelids are small, white.
  7. The beak is thin, light, slightly bent downwards at the end. There are long-beaked, medium-beaked and short-beaked breeds.
  8. The cere is weakly expressed, smooth to the touch.
  9. The neck is of medium length with a slight curve.
  10. The wings are long, tightly pressed to the body, converge at the end of the tail and cover it.
  11. The tail consists of 12 wide tail feathers very close together.

  13. There is thick plumage on the legs.
  14. Red fingers with white claws.

  • cages, aviaries.

The room must also meet the following requirements:

  • good ventilation;
  • sufficient distance between floor and ceiling (minimum 1.5 meters);
  • the size of the dovecote is calculated based on the rule - 1.5 square meters per individual;
  • Monthly disinfect the premises, and clean daily;
  • optimal temperature - from 20 to 30 degrees above zero;
  • the house needs to be equipped with perches, bedding.

The thickness of the perches must match the girth of the paw, and the required thickness of the bedding must be more than 5 centimeters.

Food designed for winter feeding includes:

The pigeons are fed twice a day.During growth, it is recommended to mix peas, corn, vetch, barley, wheat, millet. This food is given to the birds three times a day. With serious physical exertion, feeding is also carried out three times a day (after training, at 13:00 and before dusk). In the diet, in addition to the products listed above, oats should be present.

Possible diseases

Krasnodar pigeons are susceptible to the following diseases - both infectious and non-infectious:

  • ornithosis;
  • coccidiosis;
  • trichomoniasis;
  • Newcastle disease;
  • aspergillosis;
  • salmonellosis.

Keeping fighting pigeons is not easy, so it is recommended that experienced breeders take on such responsibility. Birds need regular training, and only a person with sufficient experience in this field can organize them.
