Description and brief characteristics of the variety

This grape is a table variety.

External data of bush and shoots

The bushes are powerful, with developed roots, the variety is resistant to frost and drought, it perfectly resists fungal diseases. Young shoots need to be tied to supports in a timely manner - they have increased fragility.

Ripening period

Brushes ripen 145-155 days after the buds open. The grape harvest takes place in the first half of September. Clusters are perfectly preserved on the bushes. The variety gives high yields. Properly stored, brushes can lie in the basement for up to 4 months.

Bunch size and yield

Large brushes with dark elongated berries, very decorative. The weight of the bunch is 600-700 grams. The berries in the brush are large - 7-10 grams, with a dense prune coating that protects them from spoilage. The brushes are large, conical in shape, with a moderate density. From an adult bush, with good care, about 50 kilograms of grapes are obtained.

Taste of berries

The skin of the berries is dense, with a tart taste, the berries are large, juicy, tasty, containing 2-3 seeds. Grapes are great for compotes, wine, fresh consumption.

Which areas are recommended to plant

Memory Negrul grows well in the southern regions and in the Middle Strip. Thanks to warming, it became possible to grow grapes in the South Ural region. This variety tolerates frosts down to -25 ° C, but it is not covered only in very warm climates.

Boarding rules

Proper planting of vines and care of grapes are the conditions for a good harvest. Grapes grow in one place for many years, which is why you should carefully choose a place for planting. Proper care allows you to get the first harvest in the second year of cultivation.

Seedling selection

Choose strong seedlings with developed roots. A cut of a he althy root should be white. Be sure to lightly press on the eyes - in a quality seedling, they should not be dry or fall off. If the grapes are planned to be planted in the spring, then the planting material is stored in a cool basement. The roots of seedlings are placed in wet sand.

Important: the sand should not be too wet, as this will cause root rot.

The bushes are planted when the air warms up to +15 °С.

Depth and width of hole

A hole for grapes is prepared in advance, since autumn they dig a hole 80-100 centimeters deep. Its size is 80x80 centimeters. For planting choose sunny, draft-protected, high areas.

Planting grapes in the lowlands will lead to rotting of the roots and death of the vine. A drainage layer is required in the pit, in addition, manure or humus is introduced.

Seating chart

Vine bushes are planted at a distance of 1.5-2 meters from each other, and with a distance between rows of plantings of 3 meters. If the grapes are planted in the garden in one strip, the distance between the seedlings is 1.5 meters.

Soil Requirements

When choosing soil, you should pay attention to the location of groundwater - grapes do not tolerate waterlogging. Clay soils are not suitable for this variety, it is not planted in s alt marshes.

Planting on chernozem or loamy soils, loose, with good breathability will be preferable.

Care

The Memory Variety Negrul is unpretentious in care, suitable for planting even for beginner gardeners.

Irrigation

In spring and autumn, water-charging watering is carried out, it contributes to the enhanced development of roots.

The next watering is needed after the appearance of the first leaves, then moisten as the soil dries up, until the period when the berries begin to fill. Watering is stopped 1-1.5 months before harvest.

Foliar and root fertilizer

In autumn, after harvesting, organic fertilizers (rotted manure, humus) are applied. Along with watering, mineral fertilizers are applied. Potash and phosphate fertilizers are needed.

For foliar top dressing, complex preparations are used, for example, Plantofol or Brexil Mix. Foliar feeding is combined with spraying for diseases. Memory Negrul is resistant to diseases, but 2 sprays still work.

Mulching

Mulch the soil under the bushes to reduce the likelihood of weeds, retain moisture, saturate the soil with organic matter. Mulching increases the yield of bushes and improves the taste of grapes. Straw, peat, sawdust, chopped reeds or hay are used for mulching.

Cutting

This variety needs pruning. Pruning is carried out to form a bush and rejuvenate it. The bushes are pruned in the fall, before covering the grapes, and in the spring, after the covering material has been removed and the vine has aired.

Shelter for the winter

The variety is frost-resistant, but we should not forget that it is still grapes. Therefore, in most Russian regions, it needs to be covered for the winter.

They cover with special material, often use a film, additionally sprinkled with earth. If during the laying of the vineyard special trenches were dug to shelter the vines for the winter, then the problem of wintering plants is solved very quickly.

Treatment from diseases and pests

Memory Negrul is resistant to odium, mildew, phylloxera, but 1-3 treatments per season should be done. Treated with fungicides: Fastak, Kinmiks, Bordeaux mixture or blue vitriol.

The first treatment is carried out after removing the shelter, the next - after swelling of the buds and after flowering. No processing is carried out during the filling period.

This grape is very fond of birds - a metal mesh is stretched to preserve the crop.

To protect against wasps, poisoned bait is hung in the garden, and wasp nests are found and burned.

Methods of reproduction

Excellently propagated by cuttings, young shoots are cut into a length of 40-60 centimeters. They are stuck into the soil, leaving only the upper kidney on the surface. They do this in the fall, until the spring the cuttings take root.

You can plant cuttings at home; over the winter, the planting will get stronger, in the spring it is planted in a permanent place in the garden.

Pollination and fruiting period

Because the variety is a hybrid, both male and female flowers are present on the plant. No additional steps are required for pollination.

For a stable harvest, it is necessary to eliminate unnecessary brushes. With an excess in the next season, the berries and brushes will be smaller, the yield will decrease.

Harvesting

Harvested in mid-September, in warm southern regions it ripens in late August. If there was a lot of rain in the season, the berries in the brush will be larger and more elongated, but may burst at the top. Harvested on warm dry and sunny days.

Storage and transportability

Grapes are stored in a cellar or cellar, separate from other vegetables. Brushes are periodically stripped from spoiled berries.

Another way to save is to hang bunches in the cellar on a stretched twine. Sometimes bunches are stored in boxes, sprinkled with sawdust.

In any case, the storage room should be cool, odor free, and well ventilated. Grapes are not washed before storage.

The transportability of the berries of this variety is high, the keeping quality is above average.

Despite the fact that a lot of new varieties have appeared lately, Negrul Memory grapes remain popular. It is easy to cultivate, and dark clusters and large berries are tasty and beautiful, in addition, it is excellent in storage, suitable for making wine and compotes.
