Types of feed for ducks

Mixes are divided into 3 types - for little ducklings, for grown-up ducks and for adults. Due to the fact that at different stages of growth a different effect on the body of nutrients is required, the composition of the feed is not identical. It includes various products.

Components manufacturer indicates on the packaging. When buying, you need to pay attention to the composition, high-quality compound feed does not harm the he alth of ducks, low-quality feed will not only not bring benefits, but can also be dangerous.

Full-Full

Compound feed concentrate

Concentrated duck mixes are added to the main diet. They compensate for the deficiency of protein, fat, amino acids, mineral elements or vitamins. The concentrate can be used in poultry farms or for feeding ducks in backyards.

Protein-vitamin supplements

The mixture consists of protein concentrates, mineral elements and antibiotics. Additives include in full feed. Separately used as an additive, but not as a substitute for feed.

Premix

This is a combination of vitamins, enzymes, minerals, amino acids. Like BVD, they are used as an additive to the main diet.

Consumption rates

The dosage, like the composition, is divided by age. For 1-3 weeks, little ducklings are given 20 g per head. Every day, you need to increase the rate by 2 g. The starting feed is completely absorbed, gives a daily weight gain of 20-25 g for the duckling. By the age of 3 weeks, the ducks gain 550 g of weight.

Growth food for ducklings and mulards is designed for rapid weight gain and enhanced growth. As part of the compound, which provide gains of 40 g per day. The mixture is fed to the bird from 3 weeks of age. Can be mixed with chopped grass and herbs. Green fodder increases the digestibility and assimilation of food. For each head, they give 80 g per day, increasing by 2-3 g every day. Ducks grow on this compound feed, having 2.5 kg of weight.

Then they switch to feeding with complete feed. It allows you to prepare the young for the transition to the category of adult birds. Ducks are fed this mixture from 9 to 26 weeks of age.Every day they give 160-170 g per head, the dosage is not increased. Feed wet. Broilers can be fed with a complete feed, they grow quickly on it.

How to make compound feed yourself at home

You can buy ready-made feed for ducks, but you can also make it yourself. It should include finely chopped grains of wheat, corn, barley, peas, soybeans. You also need to add meal, cake, fish and meat and bone meal, fat, s alt, yeast, chalk. In this case, the grain should be 60% of the mixture.

You need to choose the proportions and achieve such a consistency of the finished mixture that it is not dry, but not wet either. Dry ducks eat poorly and drink a lot of water, wet ducks become sticky and clog the bird's esophagus.

Approximate time for ducklings to start feeding is 10-30 days. At this age, the chicks grow most vigorously, so they should receive as many useful and nutritious foods as possible. For 3 weeks, ducklings are given food consisting of corn and wheat (50%), sunflower cake (20%), yeast (5%), dry skimmed milk and herbs (3% each), fishmeal (9%). Additives - chalk and ground shell.

After the ducklings reach the age of 1 month, they are transferred to a mixture that consists of nutrients that promote accelerated weight gain. She is fed to death. Homemade mixture consists of corn (45%), barley (8%), oilcake (17%), wheat (13%). Additionally, they include 4% fish meal, 5% yeast, 3% meat and bone meal, 1% grass and chalk. Due to the balanced composition of proteins and carbohydrates, the mixture allows ducks to gain weight, but not to store fat. Feeding with compound feed to enhance the effect should be combined with walking in the pond. Walking improves the quality of meat.

Ingredients should be mixed until smooth, poured into moisture-proof containers and stored in a dry place. If the mash gets damp, it will spoil. This is the main disadvantage of homemade feed. But in good conditions, the shelf life is practically the same as the production one. If it is not possible to store compound feed for ducks in a dry place, you need to cook it at once.

Feeding rules

If you feed ducks with complete mixtures, the ducks no longer need anything but water. This is convenient, you do not need to prepare mash for each feeding, the granules do not deteriorate for a long time. If stored in a dry place, they do not lose quality during the period specified by the manufacturer.Packing does not take up much space, bags can be stacked on top of each other, which further reduces the footprint.

It must be remembered that the feed is dry, there is almost no moisture in them, so the ducks need to put water in the drinkers. Fluid must be kept in the house at all times.

When using additives, add them only at the time of preparation of the mixture. Remove the leftovers that the ducks have not eaten from the feeders. Water, as in the previous case, must be present in the duck house all the time.

Is it possible to feed ducklings with pork or chicken feed

Clearly, only duck food is formulated to meet the needs of the duck. But what if, for example, it is not on sale, but you need to feed the ducklings. As a substitute, you can use chicken and even pork mixture, but only in certain cases.

Pellets for pigs can be fed to musky ducks and those raised for meat. They are nutritious, contribute to accelerated weight gain. 150 g per head per day. Pig pellets are not suitable for feeding egg-laying birds, because of it, they get fat and stop laying.

Granules for chickens differ in composition from duck ones, but, if necessary, they can also be used. Broilers are suitable for meat chickens, egg-laying ducks are fed with a composition for laying hens.

Combined feeds for ducks, especially industrial production, are easy to use. They do not deteriorate, they are easy to use, you just need to pour a portion into the feeder, and that's it. Ducks, as gluttonous and omnivorous creatures, do not refuse compound feed, they eat it with pleasure. Properly prepared, it contributes to the growth of the body, weight gain. At the same time, if you buy the mixture at a reasonable price, the purchase costs are justified by obtaining high quality meat and egg products.
