How the honey extractor works: the principle of operation and how to properly frame
Anonim

The honey extractor is a device that is actively used in apiaries. In small farms that do not get very much honey, beekeepers can do without this device. However, in large apiaries, life without such an apparatus will be more difficult. For the use of the device to be effective, it is important to choose the right type. You also need to understand exactly how the honey extractor works.

How the honey extractor works

The device is a large tank in which cassettes are fixed. The beekeeper pulls out the combs from the hive, which are filled with honey.At the same time, they are at least 2/3 sealed by bees. With a special fork or knife, the beekeeper opens the zabrus. After that, he puts the prepared frames into the drum.

Under the influence of a manual or electric drive, the rotation of the cassettes begins. This begins a process that resembles centrifugation. Under the influence of a significant centrifugal force, the product is released from the unsealed cells. At the same time, it flows down the walls and fills a special collection tank. The bottom of the container is equipped with a hole, which makes it possible to pour the beekeeping product into any container.

Varieties of designs

Honey extractors differ in types. As a rule, they are classified according to the following criteria:

  • production material;
  • design;
  • drive type;
  • number of frames.

The structure is made of materials such as wood, stainless steel, aluminum. The structure is also made of food-grade plastic.

If we talk about design features, honey extractors are divided into several varieties depending on the placement of the cassettes. On this basis, radial and chordial reverse structures are distinguished.

Position of cassettes

According to the placement of cassettes for attaching frames, honey extractors are radial and chordal. The first variety has such a drum structure in which the cassettes are placed along the radius. Such a structure has the following advantages:

  • large frame capacity;
  • direction of centrifugal force to the bar;
  • no need to flip the frame to the other side;
  • almost complete drying of honeycomb.

The disadvantages of the structure include the high price and massive size. Because the structure is difficult to transport.

Chordial honey extractor is smaller. It is also distinguished by a special drum device, in which honeycombs in cassettes are attached along the chord in relation to the rotation mechanism. The advantages of chordial structures include the following:

  • small size;
  • minimum weight;
  • low price.

At the same time, certain disadvantages are also characteristic of the chordial construction. First of all, it is possible to put no more than 1-4 frames into it. During untwisting, centrifugal force exerts an influence on the side. This often causes the cell to break.

Drive type

Depending on the type of drive, honey extractors are manual and electric.A special handle that rotates the drum helps to set in motion the first variety. The device is low cost, but requires the application of physical effort. In addition, it is difficult to control the rotation speed in a hand-held device.

Electric honey extractor powered by mains. It is equipped with an electric motor, but can also be powered by a battery or solar energy. The device is characterized by fast operation. When using it, it is possible to control the number and speed of revolutions. This helps avoid damaging the cells.

Models

Honey extractors differ in varieties. The most famous device types are:

  1. Granovsky honey extractor. The device can operate in manual mode or on electricity. The body and elements are made of stainless steel. The device is available in different modifications, which differ in the number of frames.
  2. Honey Extractor Lungwort. This is the most famous variety. Such devices are of impeccable quality and affordable cost. The range includes both radial and chord models.
  3. Honey Extractor Lyson. This is a Polish device for pumping honey. It differs by an optimum ratio of the price and quality. The advantages of the device include ease of maintenance and ease of use.

Pumpout procedure

To pump out honey, it is important to set the frame correctly. For efficient operation, it is recommended to consider the following:

  1. Place the device on a level surface to prevent it from falling over while rotating.
  2. Do not set very high speed on first boot. This will damage the device and rupture the cells.
  3. With a small pocket for honey, use special filters before draining into a container. This will help avoid falling into a mass of garbage.
  4. Dry the cassettes and wash the tank after emptying.
  5. Open honeycombs before loading. This is done with a special fork or knife.

The honey extractor is an efficient device that is used to extract honey. Today, a wide selection of such devices is on sale, each of which has its own pros and cons.
