Do-it-yourself drinkers for quails: how to make, drawings and dimensions
Anonim

There are many varieties of drinking bowls for domestic quails. They differ in design, ways of using and the ability to apply additional functions. Drinking bowls are purchased in specialized stores or made independently. Quail breeding has become a popular business, and in order for it to be profitable, it is necessary to approach the issue of watering competently.

Requirements for quail drinkers

Drinking systems for quails

Before you purchase or make a container for drinking quails on your own, you need to familiarize yourself with the requirements that drinkers must have.First of all, stability is required from the design, because quails are mobile birds. That is why even young animals do not need to put ordinary saucers of water in the cage - it will not be difficult for them to turn them over.

Other requirements include:

  • protection against rapid clogging (litter, food debris, feathers) in the form of a grid, protective fence;
  • ease of service;
  • free bird access to water;
  • hygienic, environmentally friendly material that is easy to process;
  • safety - under no circumstances should the bird fall into the container during watering.

It is necessary to take into account the dimensions of the structure. The size is calculated based on the total number of quails and the norms of moisture consumption. An adult quail drinks up to 100 ml of water per day, but in the hot season, the amount of liquid drunk increases to 200 ml. The calculation of the size is necessary so that the quails do not crowd around the drinker, and the farmer does not replenish the water tank several times a day.

Types of structures

Methods for supplying liquid are varied. The most popular are the following types of drinking systems:

  • vacuum - more suitable for large poultry farms, and the operation of such a system is based on the delivery of moisture to birds in cages under pressure, and it is indispensable for floor keeping of quails;
  • nipple (drip) drinkers function like a washstand, water is available to birds as soon as there is some pressure on a special valve;
  • open devices are the simplest designs, however they quickly become messy and quite unstable;
  • cups (there are also microcups used for young individuals), consist of an element with which the delivery of liquid to the drinking system is regulated.

When choosing the right design for poultry, experienced farmers opt for a safe device.

How to make your own drinker

Before making a drinker, you should decide in advance on the volume, dimensions, material. It is equally important to understand where the device will be placed.

Open

Drinking systems of an open type are often made from an ordinary plastic bottle. The method of supplying moisture, which is used in this design, is suitable for young quails and adults. Crafting required:

  1. Cut the bottle of the desired size exactly into two parts.
  2. In the part where the bottom is, make small round holes. Quail heads should pass freely through them.
  3. Below these holes, bend a small side.
  4. In the place where there is a thread on the second part of the bottle, cut out the wedges.
  5. Turn the bottle down and insert into the second part.

From a plastic bottle

You can choose a metal container, such as a tin can, as a container. One end of it should be inside the birdcage and the other end outside of the cage, just like the water bottle.

Cups

Scheme of the device of the drinking cup system

To make a DIY cup design, you will need a suitable plastic food container up to 250 ml. The step-by-step manufacturing instructions are as follows:

  1. Make fasteners with self-tapping screws to make a horizontal hole for moving the container.
  2. Insert a plug into a fragment of a plastic pipe (about 20 cm) and drill a hole 2 cm in diameter.
  3. Slots are needed to fix the axis in the pipe. After installation in the cage, close the top of the pipe with a plug.
  4. Install the spring, attach the gasket to the fasteners of the bowl.
  5. A bowl is installed on the axle.
  6. Fix the end of the pipe on the water tank.

Cup system

If necessary, you can make several bowls by connecting the pipes from them to a common pipe that leads to a tank of water.

Nipple

Drip device diagram

Nipple, or drip, devices are made of a cylinder with a valve and a metal stem. They are placed inside the cage, and so that moisture does not fall on the floor, special drop eliminators are needed. Manufacturing algorithm:

  1. Make holes along the plastic pipe. Nipples should be screwed into them. You will also need holes to connect to the pipe that is needed to deliver water.
  2. Cover the pipe with plugs on both sides. Next fix it.
  3. Connect nipples.
  4. Connect the structure to a common tank or water supply.
  5. Connect the drip catcher and water pressure sensor.

Nipple drinkers are required for houses with a large number of birds. With their help, it is easy to calculate the daily need for water. Additionally, you can add drugs and vitamin preparations there.

Vacuum

Homemade vacuum drinker design can only be partially made. The lower part of the device must be purchased. The main part is a suitable plastic tray. There is a mount in the middle under the jar or bottle. To fill it with moisture in the container, you need a little pressure. It can be obtained by winding the tray onto the container, and then turning it over.Water enters the bowl only when needed.

Autonomous

Autodrinker

At the heart of the autodrinker is an automated principle of operation. The main advantage of such a drinker is the supply of water without outside participation. Uninterrupted operation is ensured by an automatic device with a float. Materials needed for crafting: a wine cork, a small piece of Styrofoam, a soft rubber tube, a nail, an eraser, a ballpoint pen body and metal wire.

You need to make a drinker in the following sequence:

  1. Bend the wire, loosely wind it onto the nail, making a couple of turns on both sides.
  2. Insert a piece of eraser into the loop, cutting off the excess parts.
  3. Reinforce the soft tube section on the plastic surface.
  4. Insert the ends of the wire into the holes of the cork.

After making the float, start making the drinker:

  1. Attach polystyrene to the pipe, cutting it along the contour, make a hole on the walls.
  2. Cut off two pieces of 0.5 cm from a ballpoint pen - they will serve as limiters.
  3. Pass the nail through the hole, put one part of the handle body on it, then the float and the other part.
  4. The hole made in the foam must match the diameter of the pen body. Cut off 7 cm from it, insert into the foam.
  5. To the body, bring a tube that will supply water from the tank.

As the bird drinks the water, its level goes down, the float, lowering, opens the water supply hole. Next, a new portion of water is filled.

Where to post

When installing a quail drinker, some rules are followed. It is not recommended to place the structure near the feeders, as well as in the center of the room where the bird is kept.The drinking system for adult quails should be located as far as possible from the drinkers for young birds. The cage system is installed in the corners so that active birds cannot knock it over.
