The original name of the tomato variety is Red Charcoal, but in our country it is referred to as Red Charcoal. This name is associated with the non-standard color of vegetables, which have an unusual combination of black and red. During the ripening period, their appearance resembles smoldering embers, as the bottom of the tomatoes have a rich red color, and the top is a black-purple hue.

Description of the variety classifies it as an average indeterminate species. Tall bushes are able to grow up to 1.8 meters and, in connection with this feature, they need garter and pinching. The shoots are distinguished by good stem thickness, strength and resistance to external factors.

The plant is able to show high yields when grown in open ground and in greenhouse conditions. 1.3 meters. It is recommended to grow bushes in two main stems.

The characteristic of the variety Coal indicates the possibility of using fruits fresh and for canning. Thanks to the unusual color, Red Coal tomato salads acquire a special piquancy and unusual appearance. Breeders consider resistance to most varieties of tomato diseases to be an advantage of the variety.

Features of fruiting

Fruits have a rounded shape and a smooth surface. The average weight of one vegetable is from 100 to 200 grams. Growers' reviews indicate the presence of a delicate aroma with subtle notes of fruity smell.

The process of fruit ripening is interesting. At first they acquire a reddish tint, then the vegetables change color to a bluish tint in the stalk area, and towards the end of the fruiting period they become coal black.

The pulp of vegetables is dense, rich red in color with a small amount of seeds. The advantage of a tomato is the high content of a substance such as anthocyanin, which has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the cardiac and vascular systems, reduces the risk of cancer. It is due to the high content of this element that vegetables acquire an unusual color.

The plant is characterized by high yields and, with proper agricultural technology, plants can harvest up to 5.5 kg of tomato from one bush. In one brush of an adult shoot, on average, 5 vegetables are tied. Brushes with a lot of vegetables may need additional tying.
