Tomato Siberian apple: characteristics and description of the variety, its yield with a photo

Anonim

Not so long ago, Russian breeders bred a tomato hybrid whose fruits look surprisingly similar to apples. In addition, the Siberian Apple tomato is also famous for its unusually pleasant taste.

Hybrid features

"Siberian apple" - mid-season variety of indeterminate type. A distinctive feature of the hybrid is its high yield. Begins to bear fruit 110-120 days after germination.

Variety description:

  • plants with unlimited growth, can reach a height of 1.5-2.5 m;
  • leaves are large, green, dissected;
  • inflorescences simple, stalk without articulation;
  • ovary forms well;
  • yield up to 9 kg per 1 square. m;
  • tomato has high protective properties against most viruses and diseases.

Fruit characteristics:

  • round shape, reminiscent of an apple;
  • tomatoes are not very large, weight ranges from 100 to 200 grams;
  • the skin is dense and smooth;
  • inside 4 to 6 segments;
  • fleshy, juicy, sugary pulp;
  • rich taste and aroma;
  • even when unripe, they look more like apples than tomatoes: at first light-light green, then they begin to turn intensely pink. As a result, pearl-pink apple-tomatoes flaunt on the bushes.

Tomatoes fully ripen on the bushes, retain their presentation for a long time, lie well and are resistant to mechanical damage during transportation. Siberian apple tomatoes are widely used in cooking: from salads to preservation.

Growing and care

The Siberian Apple variety is recommended for growing in greenhouses, but in the more southern regions of Russia it feels quite comfortable in unprotected soil.

  • Sowing seeds for seedlings produced from late March to early April. The seeds are pre-soaked for a couple of days, and the soil is disinfected.
  • With heap sowing, after the appearance of the first pair of true leaves, the sprouts should dive into different pots or cups. To form a powerful root system, it is recommended to deepen the sprouts almost to the cotyledon leaves when picking.
  • A week after picking, it is recommended to fertilize with complex fertilizers. In total, you need to make 2-3 top dressings before planting in the ground.
  • 7-10 days before transplanting for permanent residence, the shoots must be hardened off so that they can more easily endure the adaptation period.
  • Growing in greenhouses and greenhouses can be done from mid-May, but in open ground not earlier than early June, when the soil warms up and the threat of frost passes.
  • Planting scheme - 70x40 or no more than three plants per 1 sq. m.
  • Tomatoes will give a greater yield if, in the process of growth, bushes are formed into two stems.
  • Tall plants need a garter.

Growing tomatoes is not so difficult if you take the choice of variety seriously, study the description and reviews, and then provide the plants with proper care.
