Tomato GS-12 f1: description and characteristics of the variety, yield with photo
Tomato GS-12, which has powerful roots, is grown in seedlings in Ukraine, Moldova, and southern Russia. The seeds of this hybrid are produced by the Swiss company Syngenta and are quickly sold, despite the decent cost. The first tomatoes do not have to wait long, they ripen 55 days after planting in open ground.
Valued for what?
The hybrid normally tolerates heat, the ovary does not fall off even at air temperatures above +30 degrees. Tomato roots GS-12 f1 find nutrients in infertile podzolic soil. The plant is not afraid of viruses:
- bronze;
- yellow leaf curl;
- tobacco mosaic.
The variety is rarely exposed to Fusarium rot, powdery mildew, resistant to gray and brown spot, verticillium wilt. Summer residents who began to plant this hybrid in the beds write positive reviews about the tomato, in which they note that they like the taste of tomatoes, the ability to close them in jars without cutting them into pieces.
Appearance
The determinate variety of tomatoes has a height of no more than a meter, has green leaves with sharp ends, under the eighth of which the first flower appears. The bushes grow rapidly, in each sinus not one fruit is tied, but several. Ripe tomatoes are different:
- dense texture;
- attractive shape;
- bright red;
- great taste.
Tomato weighs from 120 to 140 g. About 4 kg of fruits are harvested from 1 square meter, which are well stored, transported over long distances. The bush looks unusual, all strewn with mouth-watering tomatoes .
Preparing the land
Hybrid GS-12 f1 is grown in almost any soil, the variety does not welcome only heavy, moist soil, but fruits ripen if planted on a ridge. They dig up the earth for tomatoes in the fall. You need to choose a site where potatoes or eggplants did not grow, since these crops are affected by the same diseases.
With a seedless method of cultivation, which is possible only in the southern regions, the soil is leveled so that the seeding is the same depth. Minimize tillage to conserve moisture in the spring.
The land before planting tomatoes is fertilized with minerals - nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Feeding is also needed during the growing season.
Seeds germinate when the temperature rises to 15 degrees. In the south of Russia and Ukraine, seedlings are moved to open ground starting from the third decade of April, in the middle lane - from May 10 to May 25. 7 hybrid bushes are planted per 1 square meter. For seedling cultivation:
- Harvested early.
- Tomatoes do not die from frost.
- Use less fertilizer and fungicides.
- The density of leaves is regulated.
The disadvantage of this method is that the root system develops worse than when sowing directly into open ground. Bushes take longer to adapt to new conditions.
Features of care
Maximum harvest is harvested if the night air temperature is around 18 degrees. Tomato must be freed from stepsons, excess ovaries. Crop care includes:
- fertilizing the soil;
- tie bushes;
- mulching;
- moisturizing.
Tomatoes need to be watered under the root, make sure that water does not fall on the leaves and inflorescences. Drip irrigation is best. Mineral and organic fertilizers must be applied regularly to the soil.
If you follow the rules of agricultural technology, timely moisturizing, tomatoes will thank you with dense and tasty tomatoes.
