Bison from the Colorado potato beetle: instructions for using the product
Potatoes are the favorite vegetable of all the people of the post-Soviet space, moreover, it is the main side dish on the tables of ordinary people. Many try to grow it on their site, but it takes a lot of effort to fight against beetles that destroy plantings with lightning speed. In order to get rid of this pest once and for all, many people use the drug Bison from the Colorado potato beetle. It has proven itself in the fight against the Colorado potato beetle and many other plant pests.
Medication description
The drug is produced by CJSC "Schelkovo Agrokhim" in the territory of the Russian Federation. Available in liquid form, packed in 1 ml glass ampoules or 5 ml plastic ampoules.
The composition of the insecticide against beetles includes the substance imidacloprid. Getting on plants, it is quickly absorbed into the green mass and retains its properties for 30 days. The substance enters the body of the insect through the contact-intestinal route and quickly kills it.
Drug action
Because the substance is absorbed into the plant, harvesting can be carried out after the 30-day period, when the chemical ceases to be active. For the same reason, the solution applied to plants is not afraid of rain and sunlight. He can poison bugs for a month.
Getting into the intestinal tract, the substance destroys the insect from the inside. It acts on the nervous system by blocking the transmission of impulses. If the substance gets on the paws or abdomen of an insect, the latter experiences paralysis and death in a few seconds.Since the beetles do not eat anything other than a potato leaf, swallowing the poison, on the second day the pests disappear from the treated area. The action lasts for a month, which means that a beetle that accidentally entered the site from another field will also be poisoned by eating harmful leaves.
How to use the drug
The preparation for processing is very simple. For initial acquaintance with the drug, the package contains instructions for use, which should be read before using the poison:
- Before starting the preparation, put on rubber gloves, prepare the solution carefully so that it does not accidentally get on the skin or mucous membranes. If the substance does come into contact with the skin, wash with running water and soap.
- Open the ampoule, 1 milliliter of poison is enough for a 10-liter bucket of water, so the ampoule is diluted in 200 grams of water, and then the concentrate is diluted in 10 liters.
- An ampoule with 5 milliliters of solution is prepared differently, for this you need to dilute the entire composition in 1 liter of water, take 200 grams of the resulting concentrate and dilute in 10 liters of water. The active substance evaporates, so the diluted liquid cannot be stored. It should be used immediately after preparation.
- The area is treated by spraying the stems and leaves of plants with a spray bottle or a simple broom. At the same time, a bucket of water is enough to neutralize 1-2 acres of the infected area. Choose cloudy calm weather without rain. If you spray the plants in the scorching sun, then the leaves will get a thermal burn. Therefore, the best time to use is early in the morning or in the evening, after sunset.
Using the drug from other insects
Application guide states that the Bison is not only used against the Colorado potato beetle on potatoes, it is also effective on cucumbers, tomatoes and other plants:
- aphids;
- thrips;
- whiteflies;
- ticks;
- scoop;
- moth;
- cabbage butterfly.
As you can see, this preparation can be used on the entire site, regardless of planting, from leaf-eating and sucking insects.
Precautions
Since the drug Zubr has a third hazard class, precautions must be taken when using it:
- When preparing the solution, use a face mask, since the substance is volatile, it evaporates in the open air and enters the respiratory tract.
- Gloves will protect a person from getting poison on the surface of the skin.
- In the process of spraying plants, you need to wear a protective suit, mask and gloves. After processing, wash all equipment with detergent, and wash hands and face in running water with soap.
- Although the poison is not as dangerous for humans as it is for insects, the description says that if precautions are ignored, a person can get a slight poisoning of the body if the solution gets inside. Chemical burn or allergic reaction when a substance comes into contact with the skin.
Overview Reviews
Since the Bison has been on the Russian market for more than 10 years, it has already received numerous reviews from users of gardeners. Consider one of them:
Stepan from Volgograd writes: “We didn’t plant potatoes in the garden before, so we didn’t meet the Colorado potato beetle. And last year they planted, hordes of omnivorous beetles filled the potato field, there was no rescue.I bought the Bison on the recommendation of the seller of the store. I processed the site once, after a week the beetles were gone. The remedy for the Colorado potato beetle really works. True, a month later the beetles began to return to the potatoes, but by that time it had faded, and the beetles no longer posed a danger to the crop. Therefore, the potato was a success. I like the ease of preparation of the composition, the frequency of use and the low price in the preparation.
