Gloria cabbage f1 is an ideal hybrid that grows on many types of soil, is not particularly demanding on care, has good disease resistance and pleases with its yield. It was bred by Dutch breeders. This crop was included in the Russian State Register of Seeds in 2011.

Variety description

Gloria cabbage characteristic:

  • mid-season variety (growth period up to 125 days);
  • fruitful (up to 800 kg of fruit grows on a hundred square meters);
  • plant dense, round shape, weighs 2-5 kg;
  • small stalk;
  • leaves are blue-green with a waxy coating and a wavy edge.

This variety of cabbage is drought tolerant and cold tolerant. The crop is harvested from late summer to mid-autumn. This cabbage tastes good.

Growing

Gloria cabbage is sown in the second half of spring. It is desirable that the soil consists of soddy soil and compost or humus. You can also add peat, because the main property of the substrate is breathability and the presence of batteries. Sow the seeds to a depth of 1 cm and cover with glass or plastic wrap. A week after sowing, the first sprouts appear.

Young plants are kept during the day at a temperature of 14-18 °C, and at night - 6-10 °C. Daylight hours must be at least 12 hours. Also monitor the sufficiency of moisture. Seedlings dive when they have 2 true leaves.

For half a month before planting in open ground, cabbage is hardened. To do this, it should be taken out to fresh air, each time increasing its residence time.

Young plants are planted in May after the 15th and before the end of the month. By this time, from 5 to 7 leaves will already grow on the seedlings of this vegetable, and the seedling itself will reach 20 cm. Planting pits should be placed at a distance of 50 cm in rows, and 60 cm between them. from peat, sand, ash and compost. After burying the root system of Gloria cabbage, water the soil abundantly.

Caring for a vegetable consists in timely watering and fertilizing, loosening the soil, getting rid of weeds, hilling. Fertilization needs to be considered in more detail. During the growing season, the soil under the cabbage is enriched 3-4 times.

Pests and diseases

Yes, Gloria sprouts are disease resistant, particularly Fusarium wilt, but in cool, humid climates, they are susceptible to fungal infections such as powdery mildew and gray mold.

As a preventive measure for the care of cabbage, seedlings and garden tools are disinfected. After planting in open ground, plants are treated with Fitosporin until the time comes for tying a head of cabbage.

Pests, unfortunately, love Gloria cabbage. These are aphids, caterpillars, the Maybug and cutworms, but if you plant marigolds, any kind of mint, cilantro or rosemary next to the vegetable patch, then the spicy plants will scare away insects.

The next way to protect cabbage beds is to treat the culture with an infusion of onion husks or tomato leaves.

Harvest and storage of crops

Gloria cabbage is harvested before nighttime sub-zero temperatures. If the hybrid is collected on time, then it can be stored for up to 5 months.
