Apricot variety Vostorg is known to many gardeners in Russia. It is quite popular due to the many benefits of growing. History of selection

Gardening culture dates back to relatively recent times. The authors of a worthy winter-hardy variety are breeders Gasimov F. M., Mulloyanov K. K. Delight turned out after free pollination. Apricot seedlings are known by another name - Piquant.

Variety description

The height of the fruit-bearing apricot tree Rapture does not grow above 3 meters. The average crown diameter is 4.5 m.

In the description of the variety, the fruits are characterized as follows:

• rounded, flat on the sides;
• weight of one approximately 23g;
• colour yellow with red blush;
• peel loose, thin, inseparable;
• pulp is medium firm, light orange in color.

Apricot is noted as a good honey plant, it produces a lot of perga. Thanks to this, the bees are attracted even in cloudy weather.

Features of cultivation

Before planting, an apricot seedling is inspected. It should not have shoots in a damaged or dry state. The roots should be dense, resilient without damage and disease.

Planting site requirements

The place for growing is selected sunny, protected from gusts of wind. From the apricot to the nearest trees, a distance of 4 meters is left. This gap will allow the trees to grow freely, they will not interfere with each other.

Soil selection

Soil for planting is recommended medium acidic or slightly alkaline. Too acidic is neutralized with lime or dolomite flour, which are brought in in the autumn while digging the garden.

Cutting

The procedure is carried out in the spring before the dissolution of the kidneys. Shoots that are frozen, broken, dried up, lost their strength are removed. The places of cuts are smeared with garden pitch or sprinkled with charcoal, previously crushed.

At the end of the season, weakened young shoots are pruned. The thickened crown is also thinned out for better penetration of sunlight and fresh air.

Aphids settle on the reverse sides of the leaves, sucking out the liquid from them. Shoots lack nutrition, trees do not develop well.

Codling moths actively eat ripening fruits in August, and go to winter in the ground near the trunk or in the lower parts of the trees under the bark.

Leafworms feed on buds and leaves, which also harms the full development of the apricot.

To prevent the spread of pests, damaged apricots are collected and destroyed in a timely manner, the old bark is peeled off, the bole is whitened, the soil is dug up, single caterpillars are destroyed.
