Many gardeners are familiar with Bianca grapes. This variety is indispensable for lovers of homemade wine. Grapes pleases with a consistently high yield. The unpretentiousness of Bianchi allows you to reduce the labor costs of gardeners to a minimum.
Variety description
Bianca takes pride of place in summer cottages. Just a few bushes will provide the gardener with the material for making high quality homemade wine. Variety description attracts:
- medium bush;
- vine strong, developed;
- fruiting rate over 90%;
- active shoot growth (requires regular chipping);
- excellent rooting of cuttings (85%);
- leaves are dark green, five-lobed;
- bark light brown.
Bianca grapes, with proper care, give he althy berries for making wine, vodka, liqueurs. Produced drinks have a vanilla-almond aftertaste.
Characteristics of the Bianca variety
The variety is different from other industrial grapes. It gives a stable harvest with minimal labor costs.
Yields
Bianca allows you to get a crop of 200 kg from 1 ha. Planting 2-3 bushes in a small summer cottage will provide the gardener with the required amount of material for making homemade wine. The opportunity to grow organic grapes is especially appreciated. This is achieved due to the resistance of the variety to diseases.
Brushes
During the ripening of the harvest, Bianca is strewn with tassels. Their characteristic:
- conical shape;
- length 20-25cm;
- medium density;
- bunch weight 120g (maximum 170g).
To set the sugar content, you need to monitor the uniform illumination of the brushes. It is recommended to regularly trim the shoots (carry out chipping).
Berries
Grapes have small berries:
- weight of one - 1.5-2 g;
- color yellow-green (changes to yellow as it ripens);
- thin skin;
- 3 bones inside;
- taste sweet and sour (28% sugars);
- watery pulp;
- alcohol content reaches 14%;
- high acid content (7%).
To reduce acidity, gardeners keep clusters on the vine for up to 3 weeks. During this period, the acidity index decreases to 3%. The taste of berries becomes floral honey.
Frost resistance
Vine has high frost resistance. The kidneys retain the ability to form ovaries when the temperature drops to -27 degrees. Lower temperatures cause the death of the vine. But she is recovering quickly.
The gardener will get a harvest in this case too: fruiting is carried out on the shoots of the past and current years.
Advantages and disadvantages of the variety
Bianca variety has advantages over other technical varieties:
- stable yield;
- frost resistance;
- high in sugars;
- high alcohol content;
- unpretentiousness;
- early ripening (120 days from awakening the vine to harvest);
- resistance to major diseases.
But flaws upset:
- brushes are damaged by wasps (insects can destroy the entire crop);
- low portability;
- low keeping quality.
The grown crop requires immediate processing. With high yields, this is a serious problem for the gardener.
Features of cultivation and care
Even an unpretentious variety requires compliance with the rules of cultivation and care. It is recommended to follow the advice of agricultural technicians.
Preparing the landing site
Bianca prefers to grow in sunny places, protected from cold northern winds. Recommended before boarding:
- check soil acidity (requires neutral, slightly alkaline or slightly acid reaction);
- clear the prepared site from weeds;
- achieve the required soil structure: it must be loose, moisture and breathable;
- assess the level of groundwater (water should be no higher than 3-4 m).
You need to prepare a landing pit in advance. Its size: 70 cm x 70 cm x 70 cm. The soil is removed and neatly folded next to the pit. Drainage is poured down. Backfill thickness - 7-10 cm. Broken brick, expanded clay, pieces of paving slabs are suitable. Then the soil is mixed with mature organic matter and the mineral complex and returned to its place.It is recommended to prepare a hole in the spring with the planned autumn planting and in the fall - with the spring planting.
Landing
Planting Bianca is recommended in early spring or mid-autumn. During spring planting, the soil temperature should be 7-10 degrees Celsius. In autumn, planting should be 2-3 weeks before the onset of a steady cooling. During this time, the bush will have time to take root well. The plant needs to be planted in the planting hole. Its size should allow to place the root system. Landing should be mulched. It is not recommended to cover the grafting site with soil: this will avoid the formation of root shoots.
Cutting
Grapes need formative and preventive pruning. Forming is carried out in the fall. Preventive - during the formation and ripening of clusters. It is recommended to lighten ripening brushes to increase sugar content.
Bianca overloads the bush with berries. In regions with a short warm period, excess clusters should be removed to ripen the clusters.
Feeding and fertilizer
The variety is responsive to the application of mineral and organic fertilizers. Mineral complexes are added to the soil in spring and autumn according to the instructions. Mature organics (humus, compost) - only in the spring. Application rate - a bucket for 1 plant.
Diseases and pests
Bianca grapes show excellent resistance to major fungal diseases: mildew, oidium. The variety is not affected by phylloxera. But wasps and birds willingly feast on tender berries.
To protect against pests, it is recommended to use protective nets, put baits (for wasps). A good result is the use of individual covers (with small planting areas).
