Advantages and disadvantages of hryvnia pigeons

The main characteristic that distinguishes hryvnias from other breeds of pigeons is flying qualities. Birds rise high and fast and soar at high altitude. Also, the advantages include:

  • strong immunity;
  • endurance;
  • high brood quality;
  • easy breeding;
  • may hatch other people's eggs.

Hryvnias have deviations from the norm, which are considered acceptable or categorically unacceptable shortcomings. In the latter case, the bird is subject to rejection.

Tolerable deviations from the standard include:

  1. Dark claws.
  2. The presence of plumage on the paws.
  3. Short or thick beak.
  4. Uneven color of feathers.
  5. Horizontal post.
  6. Wide eyelids.

Critical deviations are:

  1. Black beak.
  2. Slumped sternum.
  3. Light iris.
  4. Invalid feather color.
  5. Broad tail, not closed at the end.
  6. Short or tapered wings, and wings that do not close.
  7. Disproportionate physique.

Even if a breed fully meets the standard, this does not mean that it does not have flaws. The features that negatively characterize hryvnias include:

  • pugnacious nature;
  • special care needs;
  • inability to endure temperature changes;
  • increased weather sensitivity.

Maintenance, care and nutrition

The main thing is proper feeding, that is, balanced, containing vitamins and minerals. Forbidden:

  • give heavy food;
  • overfeed.

Feed the birds only after the flight.

The hryvnia ration includes the following products:

  • cereals (millet, wheat, barley);
  • peas, corn, oats;
  • carrots, cabbage (sometimes given instead of grains).

Serving for each individual does not exceed 30 grams. In the evening, hryvnias are given heavier food, which includes barley, oats without husks, corn, and lentils.Feed chalk or crushed eggshells are poured into a separate container. Pebbles (2 mm in diameter) are also added to the feed so that the bird's stomach can cope with food processing.

Keep pigeons in spacious, ventilated areas. At the same time, dampness and drafts are not allowed. Wide shelves are used as perches, which are specially attached to the walls. The dovecote must be kept clean.

Grivuns are taught flying skills, they conduct training. This should be done in the morning. Walking should not be abused - birds should lead a sedentary lifestyle.

Breeding Methods

It is not allowed to cross purebred individuals with defective ones. As a result of such unions, offspring are born that do not meet the standard, and most importantly, individuals lose their unique flying skills.

Diseases

The breed is prone to pathologies such as:

  • ornithosis;
  • pox;
  • paratyphoid;
  • coccidiosis;
  • trichomoniasis.

In order to prevent diseases, vaccination is carried out, as well as complete disinfection of the dovecote once a season. The main feature of the Perm hryvnias is the ability to soar high and for a long time in the air, as well as an unusual contrasting color of feathers. It is not difficult to recognize birds among other pigeons.
