Unfortunately, black or white rolls are not the best treat for birds. The answer lies in the anatomical features of the pigeon.

Can you give pigeons bread?

Bread of any kind is considered unsuitable food for a pigeon. The fact is that birds have a goiter in which incoming food accumulates.Here it is stored for some time and partially processed. The sticky and sticky texture of the bread clogs the goiter, causes blockage, which causes stomach and liver problems.

Black

Rye bread causes an increased formation of acid in the stomach, which leads to dysbacteriosis. The pigeon becomes susceptible to bacterial and viral infections, more prone to helminths. Fermentation can begin in the crop, causing breathing problems and, in severe cases, death by suffocation.

In rye bread there is often a high content of s alt or sugar, which negatively affects the body of pigeons. Worst of all, birds endure such top dressing in the cold season.

White

White bread is considered more harmful than black bread because of the low content of vitamins D and E. Rolls are very high in calories, which make birds sedentary, prone to obesity. In the cold season, you can give dried bread in the form of crackers to save birds from hunger. But you need to remember that even crackers are given in limited quantities - no more than 10 parts from the rest of the feeder. In addition to bread, it is forbidden to give pigeons meat, dairy products and the remains of human food, which greatly undermine the activity of the intestines.

What to treat the birds

Suitable treats are simple cereals such as millet or barley. You can treat pigeons with seeds, but not fried or s alted. Sprouted millet and oats will pass for a delicacy, and will not only satisfy hunger, but will also bring many benefits, because they contain many useful trace elements.

Replacement for sunflower seeds with a fat content will be rapeseed or pumpkin. Young pigeons are often fed sesame seeds, brown rice, beans, and lentils. You can use regular food for parrots or other birds, which is sold in pet stores.

Porridges, including pearl barley, can be given to adult birds and young birds - they will not cause any harm, provided that they are prepared without adding oil, s alt and sugar. Can be fed oatmeal, whole or boiled.
