Is it possible to give corn to piglets: what is useful in the diet of pigs and how to feed it

Anonim

Pig farming is a profitable business that provides good profits. Novice farmers often wonder how to feed their own livestock so that the animals quickly gain weight and the food is balanced. Is it possible to give corn to small and grown piglets, this is often asked by people who have recently decided to start a personal subsidiary plot or their own farm.

Can piglets be given corn?

In order for animals to grow quickly, and meat to be of high quality, with an optimal ratio of fat, a varied balanced diet is necessary.Corn is a cereal that gives animals energy and allows them to quickly gain weight. Therefore, you can feed cereal to small piglets, sows and animals during the fattening period.

It contains a small amount of protein, so its diet should contain no more than 50%, the rest will be protein feed, then the animals will quickly gain weight and develop properly.

The benefits and harms of the product

For fattening use grain, cobs and extruded corn. The latter option is optimal for babies, the amount of cereal in their feed should be no more than 30%. Extrusion is the grinding of whole grains, the resulting cereals are rich in protein, and are given to piglets as part of feed mixtures. Corn is good for animals because:

  • provides them with plenty of carbohydrates;
  • allows you to quickly gain weight;
  • combined with protein-rich foods (peas, reverse, curdled milk) provides a balanced diet.

Deficiencies appear when there is not enough protein in the feed or the proportion of corn exceeds 50% of the daily ration:

  • pigs suffer from lack of magnesium, calcium, essential amino acids;
  • pigs get fat quickly;
  • fat loses density and quickly deteriorates (prone to rancidity).

The presence in the diet of vegetables (carrots, pumpkins, potatoes), greens (nettles, heather), dairy products (yogurt, skim milk, whole milk) eliminates the problem. Bone meal, cake, fodder yeast serve as a source of vitamins and minerals. If fishmeal is given to piglets, it should not be used 2 months before slaughter, otherwise the meat will have an unpleasant odor and taste.

How to give properly

Pigs are given shit from corn kernels, from grains ground together with cobs, cereal is ensiled. They monitor the quality of the feed, it should not be moldy, bitter, do not grind grains to a powdery state.

Important: since the ground grain quickly goes rancid, due to the high fat content, derti stocks are made for no more than 10 days.

In the season they give fresh corn of milky ripeness. Shit is mixed with table scraps or dairy products. Feeding with dry and whole grains is not done so as not to disrupt the digestion of piglets. Cereal can make up 30-40% in the daily diet of animals. 2 months before slaughter, cereals are completely excluded from the diet of pigs in order to improve the commercial qualities of lard and meat.

How can you tell feed corn from food corn?

Fodder varieties are preferable for animals. The cobs of such corn are longer, the grains in them are dense, hard, and rich yellow in color. The food variety has short thick cobs, the grains in them are pale, the cereal tastes more juicy and sweet.

Corn grows fast and gives good yields. It is beneficial to use it when fattening livestock. This cereal is included in feed mixtures for almost all farm animals, not only for piglets and pigs.
