Mamluk Cucumber: description and characteristics of the variety, cultivation and care with photo
It's hard to find a person who doesn't like crispy cucumbers. When choosing seeds among the abundance of varieties, gardeners should pay attention to the Mamluk cucumber. What are its benefits?
Variety description
Mamluk f1 is an early maturing plant obtained by crossing several varieties. Breeders managed to combine the best qualities of parents in this variety: high yield and immunity to diseases. The variety is resistant to peronosporia and cladosporiosis. And also a powerful root system is practically not affected by rot.
Medium curly bushes well leafy. Large leaf plates are painted in rich green. The length of the central stem is 2.5 m. 1-2 ovaries are formed in the node.
Features of the variety:
- Cucumber enters the fruiting phase 40-45 days after germination.
- Ripe fruit length - 10-14 cm, diameter - 2.5-3.5 cm.
- Weight ranges from 110g to 130g
- The yield of Mamluk cucumbers is 10-12 kg per 1 square. m. beds.
Cucumber variety Mamluk has a cylindrical shape familiar to the culture. The color is rich green with thin yellow stripes. The fruit is covered with white short fluff.
The surface of the Mamluk cucumber is covered with small tubercles. The heart is juicy and tasty. In the course of crossing, breeders managed to completely get rid of the bitterness that is inherent in many varieties of this crop. Cucumbers are suitable for fresh consumption and pickling.
The hybrid Mamluk is intended for cultivation in a greenhouse and an open ground. Since the variety grows well in low light, the plants are planted in heated greenhouses in the middle of winter.
Features of cultivation and care
Seeds are placed in grooves 3-4 cm deep at an angle of 45 degrees with the spout up. It is in this position that the sprouts quickly make their way to the surface, and do not waste time unraveling and searching for light. Seeds are sown immediately after the air temperature rises to + 10- + 12 C. In the middle lane, this time comes in April - May. The crop can be sown not only in spring, but also in summer, even in autumn.
In order for the description of the Mamluk cucumber to be confirmed, during the growing season, the plants carry out the following garden manipulations:
- Water. As you know, cucumbers are very demanding on moisture. The Mamluk variety is no exception to this rule. To harvest a good crop of crisp greens, the soil in the garden must be constantly moist. In order to prevent rot, water is not brought under the stem, but at a distance of 5-10 cm from it.
- Feeding. During the growing season, organic solutions based on chicken manure and manure are introduced. The liquid is applied at a short distance from the stem, trying not to splatter the leaves. Please note that the characteristics of the variety will be spoiled if the bushes are overfed with nitrogen: instead of crispy cucumbers, lush greenery will form.
- Pinching. To ensure that nutrients are directed directly only to the fruit set, and not to unnecessary shoots, the shoots are shortened. Lateral shoots, except for those formed at the 18th, 19th, 20th node. The remaining shoots are pinched on 2-3 sheets. The center conductor is shortened after 25 knots. Manipulation will be effective only if the length of the processes at the time of blinding does not exceed 5 cm.This pinching method prevents ovary shedding and increases yield.
- Loosening and weeding. Cucumbers like to grow in loose soil, so after watering or rain, the soil is loosened. Since the root system of the plant is located close to the surface, it is recommended to loosen only the aisles. Inaccurately carried out manipulation ends with numerical wounds of the rhizome and the early death of the plant. Weeds harm garden crops, so they are pulled out as soon as they appear.
And remember, only gardeners who follow the specified technology have the right to count on a good harvest. With poor care, the normal development of a vegetable crop cannot be expected.
