DIY corn peeler: drawings with video
Corn cobs don't last long. When the harvest ends, it is important to process them quickly. Manual processing of a large amount of corn is a monotonous tiring task. To save time and effort, you can make a corn sheller with your own hands.
General Description
A do-it-yourself corn peeler can be made using a drawing. Peelers are divided into 2 types:
- Big. Used on large farms. The peeler is designed for different sizes of corn. It is filled with buckets (from 8 kg) or bags. Cleaning time 3-5 minutes. For 1 hour of operation, the device processes 500 kg of crop.
- Small. Designed for use at home for peeling one cob. It is inserted into the hole of the device, hold the whole peeling process with your hand. The motor of a small stubbler burns out with a large amount of work.
The electromechanical unit has 2 holes: the first hole - corn is poured or inserted, the second - cleaned grain comes out. Bare cobs are unloaded from the large drum. They are taken out by hand. Some types of devices simplify the work: they push empty cobs away from the grain.
The corn husker is an easy tool to make, however, you need to choose the right size parts for the amount of crop.
Working principle
A motor powered by the mains is present in all types of units. Let's figure out how to clean corn at home with a large sheller. It is equipped with a disk; its teeth are not sharp, have a roundish shape. The height of such teeth varies from 6 to 8 mm. The disk itself resembles a sieve in appearance due to the large number of round holes for grain.
The body of the device must be closed with a damper, so the crop will not scatter around. There are designs with a cob tray attached to the body. The cover for cleaning the device is located at the bottom. This model helps to significantly save time: the first batch is processed in the case, and the second is waiting for its time in the tray.
After placing the crop, the motor rotates the disk (more than 45 rpm). Corn is pressed down by its mass, beats and clings to the teeth. The grain begins to pour into the holes of the disk and the gap between the cylinder and the disk, from where it flies into the lower section of the device. There is no acceleration, so the finished product is poured through the chute into prepared containers or onto the ground.Light cobs are pushed up by heavy cobs. If the beans have stopped spilling, it's time to throw away the waste and load a new batch.
The principle of operation of small type devices is the same, however, there are differences in the design of the device. A pipe with teeth is attached to the rotating disk. Due to the fact that the teeth are directed inward, the grains cling to them well, and then fall into the container. An empty cob does not fall anywhere, it remains in the hands of the owner. The cleaning element of the large machine is horizontal, and the small one is vertical.
How to make?
For making a corn sheller with your own hands, it is important:
- Use durable materials, details.
- Choosing the right fixture size.
- Availability of detailed, step-by-step instructions.
To create an electric corn huller, prepare:
- The basis for the unit is made of durable material (aluminum, thick plastic).
- Cob tank. It may be an old, unnecessary thing (bunker from a washing machine, a cylindrical container).
- Flap on the body.
- Disc with teeth.
- Toggle switch (switch).
- Scraper.
- Flange.
- Motor.
The creation of the structure begins with fastening the base and the tank with rivets. The grain breaking mechanism is connected to the tray shield. A toggle switch on a magnetic starter is installed on the tank wall. Holes are drilled in the disk with a drill (no more than 14 mm), teeth are welded, semi-circular for farming or sharp for small crops.
The tray has 2 holes: one for grain and the other for empty cobs. 2 plates of 2 cm are attached to the bottom of the chamber. They are needed to support the rubber scraper. His task is to direct the corn cobs from one side to the other. The flange is attached to the motor shaft.
Homemade corn huller
The corn huller drawing scheme provides for a base - it is a cylindrical aluminum pipe from a water irrigation system connected with rivets. It is bolted to the base of the fixture. The grain chipper is connected to the tray shield with rivets. The toggle switch is attached to the side wall of the cylinder. The disk is equipped with semicircular teeth. To increase the rigidity of the disk, a 635 mm tire is welded on.
2.5 cm plates are welded perpendicular to the disc. A rubberized scraper strip is bolted to the plates. The bottom of the hopper is equipped with a tire, the cylinder is screwed to it with bolts. On the motor shaft there is a flange, a disk is attached to it. At the end of the flange - 3 leading fonts. The rotation of the gear disk is carried out counterclockwise. This promotes self-tightening of the bolt and makes it easier for empty ears to exit through the door, which closes during peeling.
