Features of instant redcurrant jam for the winter

If the berry is not sour, then the same amount of sugar will be needed per kilogram of the product. But if it is acid varieties, then one and a half times more.

Berries should not be stirred with a wooden spoon, as the jam will turn into jam. The container with the berry mass must be shaken regularly. To do this, it is removed for a couple of minutes from the fire, gently shaken and put back on the fire. During cooking, two such procedures should be carried out.

How to select and prepare ingredients?

Berries should be chosen ripe. They should have a beautiful even red color and elastic skin. The branches of ripe currants are green. Too dry indicate that the berry is overripe. Such currants should be rubbed through a sieve, you won’t be able to close the whole berries - they will burst under the influence of high temperature.

Red currants are washed and sorted before conservation. Remove all leaves, twigs.

Preparation of containers

The easiest option would be to sterilize the jars in a saucepan. Water is poured into it to half. When it boils, put the lids on, put a sieve or grate on top of the pan. Expose dry jars neck down.

Instead of a sieve, you can use a sterilizer. This device has small holes on which the container is placed. Banks of 1 liter are kept for 8 minutes, 2 - 10 minutes, and three-liter - 20. They finish sterilizing when the steam collects in large drops on the container.

After the jars are put to dry upside down on a dry cloth, the lids are taken out there. Canning begins when the container is completely dry.

If there is no desire to bother, jars can be sterilized over the kettle. They are put on the spout, waiting until the steam turns into drops.

Many housewives prefer to cook in a slow cooker. In it, they cook jam and sterilize the container. To do this, pour some water into the bowl and place the lids there. After installing the nozzle for cooking for a couple, put the jars upside down. Turn on the "Steam" mode. After boiling water in time, the jars are sterilized for the same amount as in the pan.
