Purple basil leaves are best, they will give the compote a rich red color. Green is also suitable, but then the color of the compote will be pale yellow.

Compote is brewed exclusively from fresh raw materials, if you take the dried leaves, the drink will turn out bitter.

How to make basil compote at home

There are several basic compote recipes. But they all have a rich taste and aroma.

Classic recipe

Very easy to prepare and incredibly tasty compote.

Ingredients:

  • water - 3 l;
  • basil - 3 bunches;
  • sugar - 100 g;
  • citric acid - 0.5 tsp.

Cooking method:

  1. Separate the leaves from the stems, put them in a pan.
  2. Add sugar and citric acid to the leaves.
  3. Pour the contents of the pot with cold, preferably distilled water.
  4. Bring to a boil, if the liquid evaporates, add water.
  5. Boil for 15 minutes, then pour the hot drink into a jar.

Apple variant

The drink turns out to be apple-spicy.

Ingredients:

  • apples - 1.5 kg;
  • basil -1 bunch;
  • sugar - 350 g;
  • water - 3 l.

Cooking method:

  1. Put large slices of apples in a jar, cover with sugar.
  2. Add chopped basil.
  3. Pour hot (not boiling!) water.
  4. Sterilize jar for 25 minutes.
  5. Sterilize the jar, turn over and cover with a towel, leave for a day.

With lemon and honey

Honey and lemon are a great addition. This compote has many useful properties.

Ingredients:

  • basil - 2 bunches;
  • lemon - 1 piece;
  • water - 3 l;
  • linden honey - 3 tbsp

Cooking method:

  1. Washed basil leaves, put in a saucepan.
  2. Cut the lemon, add to the leaves.
  3. Pour everything with water, boil.
  4. Add honey, cook for another 10-15 minutes.

With apricots

Basil compote with apricots is a real treasure trove of vitamins and macronutrients. The drink has a rich aroma and taste.

Ingredients:

  • basil - 3 bunches;
  • water - 2 l;
  • lemon - 1 piece;
  • apricots - 1.5 kg;
  • sugar - 180g

Cooking method:

  1. Wash apricots, cut, put in a pan.
  2. Add basil leaves to apricots, pour water.
  3. Wait for boiling, add lemon juice.
  4. Cook for 10-12 minutes over low heat.
  5. Cool and let it brew.
  6. Add sugar, boil.
  7. Pour into jars.

With pear

Pear-savory drink can be a pleasant surprise for the whole family.

Ingredients:

  • pears - 400 g;
  • water - 3 l;
  • melissa - 3 bunches;
  • basil -3 bunches;
  • sugar - 125g;
  • citric acid - 1 whisper.

Cooking method:

  1. Large pear slices, add water and boil with sugar.
  2. Add green leaves to pears after 10-15 minutes.
  3. Continue to simmer for a few more minutes.
  4. Pour into jars.

With cherries

  • cherries - 0.5 kg;
  • sugar - 400 g;
  • citric acid - 1 tsp

  3. Drain the water and add citric acid and granulated sugar to it.
  4. Boil and continue to cook for another 5-10 minutes.
  5. Pour the water back into the jar.

With gooseberries

Ingredients:

  • gooseberries - 900 g;
  • water - 3 l;
  • basil - 2 bunches;
  • sugar - 350g

Cooking method:

  1. Make syrup out of sugar and water.
  2. Send berries and basil leaves to the jar.
  3. Pour hot syrup into jar.
  4. Sterilize the jar for 30 minutes.

Terms and conditions of storage

If cans are stored underground, it is important to ensure that there is no sunlight there, and the temperature is not more than +18 °C. In winter, the cellar should not get too cold and the temperature should always be above 0 °C. Also, the quality of the blanks can be greatly affected due to high humidity.
