Why does the separator poorly separate cream from milk: how to adjust

Anonim

No one will argue that homemade sour cream, cream and butter are several times tastier and he althier than store-bought ones. It is enough to purchase a simple device - a separator, and there will always be fresh dairy products on the table. But after a while, many people have difficulties with the unit, and the question arises why the new separator does not separate cream from milk well. To prevent and fix this problem, it is enough to know how to assemble and operate the device.

Separator assembly rules

The separator is a mechanical device that drives cream from fresh milk and makes butter. They are manual and electric, but both are arranged the same inside:

  1. Case (includes power button and cord if unit is mains powered).
  2. Engine.
  3. Drum.
  4. Receptors for skim milk and cream.
  5. Float chamber and float.
  6. Milk receiver.
  7. Traffic.

When all the details are studied, you can safely assemble the separator and get ready for work. Step by step assembly will take no more than 10 minutes:

  1. First, the drum must be mounted on top of the motor shaft. It should fit easily, but hold tight. It is better to make a few manual turns for reliability and lack of distortion.
  2. Further, receivers are put on top of the structure. The skim milk receiver goes first, followed by the cream. It is important not to confuse, because one of them has a notch that needs to be aligned with the hole on the body. The cream container can be installed in any direction as desired.
  3. The float chamber is attached to the drains, and the float itself is installed on top in the form of a white or transparent disk.
  4. The penultimate stage is the installation of the bowl. It doesn't need to be fixed. Under the weight of milk, the bowl itself will hold firmly.
  5. In the end, it remains only to install the plug / tap. It regulates the flow of milk into the bowl.

How to adjust the device

One of the first difficulties that users of the separator face is the insufficient fat content of the cream. The separation takes place in the drum of the device, where, under the action of centrifugal force, the milk breaks up into whey and cream.

In order to adjust the unit to certain parameters of the output product, it will be necessary to increase or decrease the width of the gap near the rotation channel.

This is easy enough to do. It is necessary to tighten the screw in the upper plate of the drum. The maximum fat content of cream is from 0.05. To achieve it, the screw is twisted all the way, and then one and a half turns back.

In this position, the separator will work for a maximum of 15 minutes. Then it needs to be disassembled and washed, as grease clogs the parts. It is optimal to set the value of the screw to 3-3.5 turns. Keep in mind that the fatter the cream, the lower its ratio to used milk.

Older models of separators were not adjustable and made products of one fat content. It was impossible to regulate the density of the liquid in them. New devices, such as the IRID separator, are suitable for both liquid and thick cream.

Reasons why the separator does not work

The device may not work at all or work incorrectly due to breakdowns or assembly errors.

How are the defects of the mechanism and the features of the separator operation:

  1. The drum does not respond to pressing the button. Everything is simple here: either the button is faulty, or the internal contacts have come off, or the engine itself is out of order.
  2. The separator gives out cream of the wrong fat content and density even with the correct screw settings. So the adjustment hole is clogged. Cleaning with a brush will quickly correct the situation.
  3. Separator parts rattle when starting. If there is no milk in the bowl, then extraneous sounds are the norm. If there is liquid, but the grinding remains, the reason is the incorrect assembly of the device components.
  4. During operation, shocks are heard inside the separator. There are several reasons here. The drum may be clogged or its parts are assembled incorrectly. The nuts holding the motor are loose. The motor shaft is bent or deformed. The separator is tilted. Factory defects are to blame, and it is worth taking the device in for repair under warranty.
  5. The drum is not gaining the required pressure and number of revolutions. Option one: insufficient power supply. Option two: faulty outlet or wiring. Option three: the engine of the unit is broken.

Why does the separator not separate the cream

It happens that the separator ceases to fulfill its direct purpose even with an increase in drum speed. Why is this happening?

  1. Milk does not enter the drum. The clogged hole of the plug or faucet is to blame for this.
  2. The sealing rubber between the parts of the drum does not fit snugly or its shape is broken. Ideally, the gum should be whole, round.
  3. The thicker the cream, the faster the internal parts of the mechanism clog. If you do not wash them in time, the work will stop.
  4. If the machine worked continuously for more than half an hour, and then stopped chasing cream, then it probably clogged or broke from overload.
