  1. Easy installation and disassembly of the structure. This applies in particular to pre-fix models.
  2. Durability. Plastic structures are not subject to corrosion, fungus and mold.
  3. Easy maintenance. It is much easier to grow plants in such boxes.

  2. Risk of material deformation. This usually occurs with prolonged contact with water.
  3. Quick drying of the soil.

Required tools and materials

To create such structures, plastic boxes will be required. If desired, they can be painted with acrylic paints. To prevent the soil from spilling out through the holes, the inside of the boxes must be tightened with burlap or plastic wrap.

How to make beds from boxes with your own hands

It's easy to make portable beds out of plastic crates. Moreover, a set of containers of the same format allows the creation of different structures - racks, slides or pyramids. If you make plastic containers in 2 tiers, you will be able to get high beds. At the same time, the bottom of the top drawers needs to be cut.

If you want to change the appearance of the container, you can paint it with acrylic paints. In this case, it is permissible to choose any suitable color.

So that soil does not pour through the lattice walls and the bottom, and there is no loss of moisture during irrigation, the container must be sheathed from the inside with a film or burlap. Also, any covering material is perfect for this purpose.

An excellent solution would be to use a covering cloth or spunbond. Thanks to this, the root system of plants receives much more air. This effect is achieved through the use of breathable material.

Soil selection and features of use

When creating high beds from plastic boxes, you need to properly fill them with soil and nutrients. To do this, it is recommended to do the following:

  1. First layer lay the drainage system. For its organization, it is recommended to use crushed tree bark, fallen leaves, small branches, wood shavings.
  2. The second layer is formed from fertilizers. To organize this layer, it is recommended to use manure. In this case, rotted fertilizer will be the best option.
  3. As the third layer, it is recommended to use a moisture-permeable material. It can be arranged in the same way as the first layer.
  4. As a base for the next layer, it is worth using organic matter. At this stage, it is recommended to use a combined mineral preparation.
  5. The next layer is to lay fertile soil. Its composition is recommended to be chosen taking into account the plants that are planned to be grown in the garden. The minimum layer thickness is 10 centimeters.

After filling the beds, it needs to be well watered and left to infuse for 2-3 days. Thanks to this, all layers will have time to settle. Do not immediately start planting seedlings. It is much better to hold the bed for a while longer. This will ensure its full warming up. At this stage, you should cover the structure with black material - for example, plastic wrap.

Plastic crate beds have many advantages. Such structures are easy to install and greatly facilitate the care of plants. To achieve success in growing crops, it is recommended to adhere to the basic recommendations of experts.
