Tomato Peter the Great: yield, characteristics and description of the variety with reviews and photos
Anonim

Tomato Pyotr Veliky F1 can be attributed to the novelties of selection. The hybrid was put into production in 2015, it is difficult to find reviews on it. According to the State Register, it is possible to grow Peter the Great tomatoes in greenhouse conditions in any region. It is not necessary to have a greenhouse, the hybrid can be planted in tunnels.

Productivity and other characteristics of the hybrid Peter the Great

When choosing a new variety (hybrid), first of all, attention is paid to the characteristics:

  • maturing period;
  • disease resistance;
  • purpose of use;
  • bush type;
  • color, shape, weight and purpose of the ripe fruit;
  • yield.

Ripening dates

The plant belongs to the group of tomatoes with medium ripening. In tomatoes belonging to this group, the fruits begin to sing after 105-110 days. The countdown is not from the day the seeds are sown in the ground, but from the day the green sprouts appear. Knowing the timing of ripening, determine the time of sowing seeds for seedlings.

The timing is almost the same for the Urals, the Middle Strip and Siberia. It is better to sow in the first decade of March. In mid-May, you can transplant 60-day-old seedlings into a greenhouse (tunnel), and pick the first tomatoes in late June or early July.

Bushes

The hybrid will make optimal use of the greenhouse space.Powerful bushes reach 2 meters in height. Peter the Great, according to the type of growth, is an indent - an indeterminate plant that needs to pinch the point of growth. Without pinching the top, the bush will grow until the end of the growing season.

The bushes need strong support. Old-style wooden stakes or lightweight plastic stakes will do. There are two ways to plant seedlings:

  1. Place 3 bushes per 1 m² and form them into 2 stems.
  2. Place 4 bushes per 1 m² (tight planting), form into 1 stem, removing all stepchildren.

If the gardener follows the recommended schemes, the average yield per square meter of the greenhouse is 9 kg.

Fruits

Original, elongated, pepper-shaped, with a small spout, the fruits are small in size, have a good, tomato flavor. The weight of an average fruit is 100-120 g, length is 12 cm. The color of the skin and pulp of a ripe fruit is bright red. The pulp is dense, the percentage of dry matter is high.

The peel is strong, protects the fruit from cracking during preservation. The purpose of the fruits is universal, but the best option for their use would be the manufacture of canned tomatoes. The fruits of the hybrid are perfect for making sun-dried tomatoes.

Features of care

From the moment the first shoots appear and the seedlings are transplanted into the greenhouse (tunnel), at least 2 months must pass. The instructions from the manufacturer contain recommendations about the age of the seedlings. Recommend transplanting 60 day old seedlings, they adapt faster, grow and start bearing fruit

The plant is indeterminate, has great growth power. For good fruiting, he needs to create certain conditions:

  • ridge filled with organic and mineral fertilizers;
  • compliance with the recommended stocking density;
  • having a solid footing;
  • watering;
  • top dressing root and foliar;
  • removal of stepsons and leaves;
  • partial harvest of brown fruits that have not reached ripeness;
  • regular control of air humidity in the greenhouse.

Prepare the soil in the greenhouse in autumn. It is worth removing the top layer 5 cm thick and taking it to the garden. Fill the ridge with fresh garden soil taken from the ridge where carrots or onions grew. Add rotted manure at the rate of 1 bucket per square meter.

Superphosphate to add in the fall, a tablespoon per square meter. Dig the ridge without breaking the clods. In winter, cover it with a thick layer of snow. In the spring, scatter ammonium nitrate (1 tbsp. L / m²) over the surface, dig the ground, level it with a rake, and mark holes. Transplant seedlings in late April or May.

Feeding

First top dressing in the greenhouse to be carried out after 10 days. For her, prepare an infusion of mullein or herbs. Dilute the concentrated solution with water in a ratio of 1:10. One bucket should be enough for 10-15 bushes. In a bucket of infusion, you can add a tablespoon of superphosphate.

The second and third top dressing should be carried out with complex fertilizers for tomatoes. The second during flowering, the third during the period of mass formation of fruits. In August, spray the bushes with a solution of boric acid (2-3 g per bucket).

Diseases and pests

Modern hybrids have increased immunity to fungal and viral infections. Peter the Great is no exception. He althy seedlings and good care of tomatoes in the greenhouse guarantee the absence of diseases in the variety. Particular resistance is noted in relation to the pathogens of verticillium wilt.

On forums about tomato Peter the Great

The greenhouse was built two years ago. The first of the tomatoes planted seedlings of Peter the Great. I did not sit straight, but at a slight angle. The description from "Sedek" was taken as a basis. When growing ,, the bushes were formed into 2 stems, the extra stepchildren were removed. For salads, the fruits are too dense, I put everything into blanks. When pickled, pepper tomatoes are good both in taste and in appearance. Today I planted 5 bushes again, but I started the bushes - I didn’t break the stepchildren in time. There was enough tomato for harvesting, the fruits were tied until the end of August.

Conclusion

It doesn't hurt to have two or three bushes of the Peter the Great variety in the greenhouse, whoever planted it will agree with this. The harvested crop is useful for winter harvesting. Brown fruits, packed in boxes, ripen and are stored for a long time. Caring for a hybrid is not difficult, it is worth trying it out in the new season.
