Potato Krepysh: description and characteristics of the variety, cultivation with photo
Anonim

The Krepysh potato was entered into the state register in 2005 as an early-ripening variety bred specifically for growing in the central regions of Russia. For several years, potatoes have spread throughout the entire domestic territory and covered the CIS countries. The popularity of this variety has brought a lot of positive characteristics, including high yields and the possibility of using both domestic and industrial purposes. Today, Krepysh's plantings are ubiquitous in summer cottages and household plots.

Variety description

Early ripe potato variety Krepysh reaches commercial maturity in 80 days from the date of planting. From a hectare you can get up to 400 centners of yellow oval root crops. One bush is able to form 15 tubers. The weight of a potato reaches 120 grams. Rare eyes are at medium depth. Designed for table use. High taste qualities allow to carry out any heat treatment. Does not change color and does not crumble during cooking. The creamy pulp contains approximately 12% starch. Perfectly proved itself in fried form, it is successfully used for cooking french fries and chips.

Upright bushes of intermediate type of development grow to medium height. The dark green leaves are also medium in size and slightly wavy at the edges. Plantings are decorated with bright purple, with a red tint, large flowers.

Growing

Potato Krepysh is planted in May in a well-lit place, not subject to moisture stagnation. Ideally, if its predecessors are legumes, cereals, perennials or flax.Between plants should be about 60 centimeters, the spacing between rows should be at least 35 centimeters. In autumn, the soil should be dug deep and fertilized well.

Before planting, the seeds and the site must be prepared:

  • Sprout, green, process seed material to prevent common diseases.
  • Spray with Growth Regulator.
  • Dig the plot to a shallow depth and loosen the top layer of the earth.
  • In case of high soil moisture, potatoes are planted on ridges or ridges.
  • To accelerate the germination of seed material and to avoid its decay, you need to wait for the soil to warm up around the clock at least +8 °C.
  • Post-plant mulching of the soil brings good results.

There are three planting methods for ultra-early harvest:

  1. Wait for warmer weather.
  2. Cover crops with special materials. The best of them is spunbond, which can withstand temperatures as low as -5 degrees and is breathable.
  3. Prepare ridge embankments in the autumn, then they will quickly warm up after the snow cover melts.

Features of care

Proper care of potatoes of the Krepysh variety includes Characteristics of potatoes Krepysh dictates a certain growing technology:

  • Two weeks after planting, the row spacing is loosened, before which fertilizing with soluble fertilizers, bird droppings or manure is recommended.
  • When soils are heavy, loosening is carried out immediately after germination and continues until flowering. The number of loosenings is determined by the condition of the soil and the presence of weeds.Since Krepysh potatoes can develop at a depth of up to 20 centimeters, insufficient hilling can cause a decrease in yield and quality of tubers.
  • Spud rows should be in one direction.
  • Potatoes need to be irrigated only during the period of budding and flowering.
  • In a season, three top dressings with organic and mineral fertilizers are required, without a high nitrogen content. It is better to use copper-containing preparations.
On fertilized and loosened soil, weeds rise at a double rate, taking away nutrients from young potato sprouts. Therefore, regular weeding during this period is required. When the tops cover the entire area and bloom, the weeds will no longer damage the root crops

Pros and cons

Krepysh potato variety has many advantages:

  • One plant produces up to 15 tubers, possibly more.
  • Stable yields. From one ha - 3 centners.
  • Early ripeness. The first digging can be carried out already two months after the emergence of seedlings.
  • Ability to grow in any soil due to good adaptation and germination.
  • Drought tolerance. Plants do not need constant watering, but it is best to monitor the condition of the soil.
  • Unaffected by sudden changes in temperature.
  • Excellent, unique taste. Score on a five-point scale - 4.7.
  • Transportability. The variety is allowed to be transported over any distance and stored in the cellar for a long time. Subject to all the rules, the tubers retain their characteristics until the next harvest.
  • Storage - up to 97%.
  • Resistant to potato diseases such as cancer, nematode, rictonia, scab. Description of disadvantages includes:
  • Vulnerability to late blight.
  • The need for frequent hilling.
  • Little starch content.
  • Dependence on recharge.

Pests and diseases

This variety is sometimes affected by late blight, which becomes noticeable immediately after germination. Dark spots on the leaves are later found on tubers. In order to prevent this disease, plants should be sprayed with contact fungicides during the tuber formation phase. The tops left after harvesting must be immediately burned to prevent the appearance of late blight in the next season.

Nightshade diseases such as Fusarium or Verticillium wilt and Alternaria may also occur.

From insect pests, the Colorado potato beetle should be distinguished, the fight against which is carried out by all methods known today.

Harvest and storage of crops

Fortress is ready to start harvesting 45 days after germination. Before the full harvest of potatoes, you need to wait another two weeks, this will increase the scale of the crop. Grown potatoes are removed from the site, with the exception of plants that will be stored in order to provide seed material for the next year. Such root crops are dug up in late June - early July, trying to prevent damage.

There are two harvesting methods available:

  1. Traditional. In this case, the bushes are completely removed from the soil.
  2. Lingering. In this case, the largest tubers are separated from the plant, and the small ones remain to ripen for two to three weeks. This option allows you to double the yield.

A dry, dark, ventilated room is prepared for storing Krepysh potatoes. Tuber harvesting technology in the form of a stream allows you to dig, sort and lay the crop for storage in one day.

The freed area can be reused and grown on it beans, corn, peppers, tomatoes, early cucumbers.
