For most gardeners and flower growers, the arrival of spring is directly related to the flowering of daffodils. After all, these delicate and fragrant flowers are the first heralds of the onset of the best time of the year. Breeders around the world have bred a huge number of hybrid varieties of daffodils. Description and features of the variety

The flowering of W altz daffodils depends on the climatic conditions of the growing region. In southern latitudes, the plant blooms in April, in temperate and northern climates, in early or mid-May.

Narcissus variety W altz belongs to the bulbous plants of the Amaryllis family. It is a flower with a long, strong main stem, and many narrow, long leaves in shades of green. During the growing season, a bud appears on the peduncle, which opens with a multi-layered, large flower. The voluminous core of the flower almost completely covers the outer petals of the narcissus.

The bud opens with creamy petals with a bright, yellow core. After 1-2 days, the core acquires a bright apricot hue, and the outer petals become snow-white. After a few days, the crown of the flower acquires a delicate, creamy hue, the petals remain white. As a result, the narcissus turns completely white, and continues to bloom for several more days.

History of walz breeding

Dutch flower growers have given the world a wide variety of hybrid varieties of horticultural crops. Narcissus W altz is a relatively new variety, which was obtained by Dutch botanists during complex breeding experiments.

1. Dig up the planting area thoroughly, mix the soil with humus. Add peat and clay to sandy soil, and mix soil with high acid content with lime.
2. 2-3 weeks before planting, the flower bed is loosened again, and mineral fertilizers are added to the soil.
3. Dig holes 40-50 cm. Small stone, sand and fertile soil are laid out on the bottom of the holes.
4. The hole is abundantly moistened.

For the proper growth and development of flowers, crop rotation is observed. It is not recommended to plant a horticultural crop after bulbous plants. The best predecessors for daffodils are cereals and legumes.

2. There are no damages and manifestations of fungi and pests on the bulbs.
3. The neck and bottom and onions are dry.
4. Skin of planting material, brown or golden hue, without dark spots and growths.

Daffodils are perennial bulbous plants. When the flower begins to grow, babies form on its bulbs, which are separated from the mother plant and planted separately.

For storage, planting material is dried, folded into well-ventilated containers and sent to a dry, cool room.

1. The distance between the holes is from 10 to 15 cm, between the rows from 20 to 40 cm.

4. The bulbs are covered with earth and watered.

Advice! In swampy and wet areas, the soil in the flower beds is raised by 20-25 cm. If the plants are constantly kept at high humidity, there will be a risk of the spread of fungal and viral diseases that the flowers will not survive.

W altz flowers are unpretentious in care. But in order for garden orchid daffodils to show themselves in all their glory, top dressing and preventive plant protection measures are carried out annually.

Loosening and weeding

The root system of the plant is located close to the surface of the soil. Therefore, the presence of weeds inhibits the development, interferes with the growth and flowering of horticultural crops. Weeding a flower bed is usually combined with activities for loosening and mulching the soil, which are carried out as needed.

Irrigation

The active period of flower growth occurs in spring, when the soil is saturated with moisture after winter snowdrifts. Water the daffodils as the soil dries. Reproduction

Daffodils are propagated by vegetative or seed method.

When using the vegetative method, newly formed bulbs are separated from the mother plant, or babies that are planted in open ground as independent flowers.

For seed propagation, planting material will be required, located in seed pods that occur at the site of inflorescences. Seeds are planted in pots with fertile soil or in open ground. After 2-3 years, flowers can be transplanted to a permanent place of residence.

Important! Hybrid varieties of horticultural crops propagated by seed do not retain the properties and characteristics of the mother plant.

Most likely, ordinary daffodils will grow from seeds, with no signs of a hybrid.

From orchid daffodils create beautiful bouquets. Cut daffodils for bouquets at any time during the flowering period.
