Apple-plum jam, like any jam, has some features:

  2. It is permissible to use a blender, combine or even a sieve to grind fruits.
  3. If desired, it is allowed to add lemon, ginger, and other ingredients to the jam. This will give the treat a more interesting taste and smell.

To make jam according to the classic recipe, you need apples, plums and granulated sugar. The amount depends on what exactly the hostess wants to receive. Depending on the amount of ingredients, you can get a sweeter or sour dish.

In order to get a delicious jam, it is better to take unripe or ripe fruits. Late-harvested fruits contain less pectin and may result in watery jam.

Cooking steps

Properly making jam from apples and plums is easy. For a classic recipe you will need:

  • apples - 1 kg;
  • plum - 1 kg;
  • sugar - 1 kg.

Recipe:

  1. Wash fruits well, remove spoiled places, if any. Remove the peel from apples, cut into small slices, remove the core. Divide the plums in half and remove the pits.
  2. Put all fruits in a saucepan and add sugar, mix well.
  3. Put the container on a slow fire, bring the mass to a boil, continue to cook on low heat for 50 minutes. Be sure to constantly stir the mixture so that it does not burn. If there is a desire to add additional ingredients, then it is better to do this 10 minutes before the end of cooking.
  4. While cooking, remove the resulting foam.
  5. After cooking, the resulting product needs to be mashed. For this purpose, use a blender. In the absence of a device, it is permissible to chop apples and plums before cooking in a meat grinder or combine, and then cook them.
  6. Spread hot jam into prepared jars and cork with lids.

Turn the jars with the finished product on the lid and leave to cool, covered with warm clothes.

How to properly store the finished product?

Jam is made in summer but consumed on winter days, so it is important to keep the product in good condition. It is better to leave the finished delicacy in a dark, cool place. It can be a refrigerator or a cellar.

If mold is noticeable on the product, then it is removed, and the dish itself needs to be boiled with sugar and try to consume it faster.
