Herbicide Salsa: instructions for use, mechanism of action, how to prepare a working solution

Today, agriculture cannot do without chemicals that help destroy weeds and increase crop yields. One of DuPont's latest developments is a new generation Salsa herbicide with a wide profile and effective action. It is necessary to know the rules and norms for the consumption of the drug in order not to harm plants and the environment.

Composition, release form and purpose of the herbicide Salsa

The herbicide is based on etametsulfuron-methyl, its concentration is 750 g per 1 kg of the substance.The drug is able to penetrate through the leaves and soil. "Salsa" is a herbicide designed to control weeds in rapeseed and sunflower crops, especially in the initial phase of their development. Winter rapeseed significantly reduces yields if weed seedlings are not treated. Herbicide release form - powder or water-soluble granules, packaged in plastic jars or bags of 100 g, 250 g, 600 g.

Mechanism of action

The main active ingredient of the drug "Salsa" has a selective character and a high rate of penetration into the weeds through the leaf blades. If it rained after treatment, the herbicide can also work through the soil. For optimal effect on weeds, a temperature of at least +5 ⁰С is required. The application schedule provides for the use of the herbicide in both spring and autumn.

A week after the treatment, the weeds stop growing, turn yellow, dry. The death of harmful plants occurs in two to three weeks. The period is affected by weather conditions, the concentration of the applied drug and the stage of development of weeds.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of Salsa herbicide include:

  • high selective properties of the drug, due to which productive destruction of a wide range of weeds is possible;
  • herbicide's ability to "work" on all varieties and types of rapeseed;
  • possibility of destroying cruciferous plants at the cotyledon stage;
  • increasing the yield of rapeseed and sunflower;
  • when the dosage is doubled, the drug does not have a depressing effect on the cultivated plant.

Disadvantages include:

  • the ability to accumulate in plants and soil and change its composition.

Expenditure rate

For the treatment of rapeseed and sunflower, the herbicide "Salsa" is used together with the adhesive "Trend 90" (200 ml per 1 ha). The application rate differs depending on the crop being processed:

  • spring and winter rapeseed - 15 grams per 0.025 hectare;
  • sunflower - 20 grams per 0.025 hectare.

Processing is carried out once a season. Rapeseed is sprayed between cotyledon leaves and bud formation, sunflower is sprayed in the 2-8 leaf phase until the crop interferes with weed control.

Fluid consumption for all crops is 250 liters per hectare.

How to prepare a working solution?

To prepare a working solution of the Salsa herbicide, you will need water, the temperature of which is between +10 and +16 ⁰С.

At lower levels, the degree of solubility of the drug decreases, and the processing efficiency is reduced by 30%.

Procedure:

  1. Fill the sprayer tank halfway or one third full with water.
  2. Activate blend mode.
  3. Add the required amount of the drug.
  4. Add 75% water.
  5. Add the required amount of surfactant "Trend 90" into the solution.
  6. Add water until full.
  7. Use as directed.

Instructions for using the drug

There are a few guidelines to follow when using Salsa herbicide:

  • processing is carried out once in spring or autumn;
  • working solution is prepared immediately before use;
  • optimal temperature for spraying - about 15 ⁰С;
  • the best time is morning or evening in calm calm weather;
  • procedure should be rescheduled if rain is expected;
  • during work, all safety measures should be observed.

Precautions for use

Despite the low hazard class of Salsa herbicide, precautions should be taken:

  • when transporting the finished product, the tightness of the container is monitored;
  • strictly adhere to consumption rates and do not exceed it by more than 25 grams per hectare;
  • do not allow children, pregnant women, sick people to work with a chemical agent;
  • check the performance of the sprayer;
  • do not eat or smoke near the treated area;
  • use protective clothing, shoes, goggles, respirator for work;
  • take a shower after finishing spraying.

Herbicide toxicity level

Herbicide Salsa belongs to the third hazard class, which does not allow its use in water protection zones, near sources of drinking water. There are application restrictions:

  • the place of processing should be no closer than 300 m from the settlement;
  • no more than 5 hectares are cultivated at one time;
  • spraying is carried out early in the morning or late in the evening, notifying the owners of apiaries and neighbors;
  • cancel processing if wind speed exceeds 4 m/s.

Compatibility with other products

Salsa is compatible with herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, nitrogen fertilizers. Compatibility test must be done before using tank mix.

Terms and conditions of storage

Salsa herbicide is stored in a special warehouse for pesticides in a dark place at a temperature of 15 ⁰С to 40 ⁰С. The packaging must be sealed and not damaged. At home, the container with the chemical preparation is placed in a place inaccessible to children and animals. Shelf life is approximately 3 years from date of manufacture.

What are the analogues?

Analogues of the drug "Salsa" include herbicides:

  • Rondos;
  • Estok;
  • Neo Boreas.

They are used for processing rapeseed and sunflower at a time when there are about 4 leaves on the weeds. In case of severe contamination, the dose of the drug is increased to the maximum.

The advantage of use is low consumption of chemicals, fast penetration into the thickness of the sheet, high efficiency for many types of weeds and effectiveness in all climatic conditions.
