Phenizan herbicide: instructions for use, mechanism of action and consumption rates
Herbicides with two active ingredients demonstrate increased efficiency, destroying various types of weeds. Strong preparations with ingredients from different groups quickly clear the fields without harming the protected crops. Consider the instructions for use of the herbicide Fenizan, which has a two-component composition and a wide range of activity against weeds.
General information
The drug belongs to the group of post-emergence herbicides, spraying is carried out when the weeds have already come out of the soil and are at an early stage of growth. Phenizan is used against the following types of weeds:
- annual dicots, including 2,4-D and MCPA resistant;
- dicotyledonous perennials - certain species.
Degree of impact on different types of weeds:
Severe | Medium | Weak |
Pikulnik, gauze, dandelion, mountaineer, amaranth - species | Veronica, thistle - speciesFoxtail
Wormwood | Herberry | |
Forget-me-not, violet, bindweed ( field) | Common bluegrass
Cocklebur | Bristles - species
Phenizan is used to treat crops of spring and winter cereals and fiber flax.
Two-component formulation contains:
- dicamba - 360 grams per liter;
- chlorsulfuron - 22.2 grams per liter.
Phenizan - aqueous solution. Poured into 5 liter canisters.
Mechanism of action
Herbicide has a double effect on weeds. Dicamba causes pathological elongation of cells of sensitive weeds, stretching of the tops of the stem. Chlorsulfuron inhibits the synthesis of amino acids, stopping the growth and development of weeds.
Selective action does not affect protected crops. Cereals are not sensitive to the herbicidal complex included in Fenizan.
Penetration of Fenizan into weeds occurs in 4 hours. Growth suppression occurs immediately. Within 2 weeks, weed shoots elongate and discolor, then dry out and die.
The protective period lasts from a month to 60 days, which takes the entire growing season.
Good and bad sides
Phenizan is chosen for crop treatments due to a number of herbicide advantages:
- quick decomposition in the soil, due to this, any crops can be sown in the fields in the future - crop rotation is not disturbed;
- action on weeds of different groups;
- complex action of two components - strengthening of herbicidal properties (synergy) is provided;
- independence from weather and climate conditions - suitable for all regions;
- used for winter crops in autumn;
- one application is enough for the season.
You can spray the herbicide by ground methods and with the help of agricultural aviation. Crop treatment is effective during the initial stage of weed vegetation. If the treatment is late, the effectiveness of Phenizan is reduced.
Consumption rate
The drug is applied according to the following regulations:
Culture | Fenizan in liters per hectare | Working mix in liters per hectare
Above ground application | aviation
rye, oil flax; Fiber flax | 0.14-0.2 | 200-300 | 25-50 |
When the crops are heavily weedy, the upper consumption rates of Fenizan are chosen.
How to properly prepare a working solution
When preparing a solution for spraying, it is important to observe the following rules:
- the mixture is prepared on special sites (concrete) to prevent the absorption of the herbicide when spilled into the ground;
- when filling aircraft tanks (An-2) the engines are turned off, filters are used to clean the mixture;
- when filling the tanks of helicopters (Mi-2), the propellers operate at low speeds.
The sites must be isolated and fenced, they are disinfected after filling the tanks.
Preparation of working solution
The solution is prepared immediately in the tank. Fill the container halfway with water, introduce Fenizan. Rinse the canister twice with water, pour it into the tank. Then add the rest of the liquid and mix the solution thoroughly.
Instructions for use
To ensure the maximum effect of the herbicide, work in accordance with the instructions:
- Cereals are pollinated at the initial stage of tillering (3-4 leaves), when the weeds are in the seedling stage. In exceptional cases, it is allowed to spray cereals in the spring, when entering the tube, if it was not possible to process earlier.
- Seed and breeding crops are not processed at a later date.
- Flax being sprayed in the herringbone stage.
- The best time is morning, evening, cloudy weather, temperature - 8-25 °.
- Crops are not processed before and after rain (interval - at least 4 hours), wind - no more than 3 meters per second.
Intense heat (above 25°) and cold (below 5°) reduce the effectiveness of herbicide active ingredients.
Important: re-spraying of Phenizan is not practiced. In the absence of processing results, they are looking for other means of weed control.
Precautions
When working with a herbicide, observe the regulations for the use of drugs of the 3rd hazard class:
- work in protective suits;
- with aerial spraying - no wind, with ground spraying - wind speed up to 3 meters per second;
- dilution of the solution - in accordance with the instructions for the drug;
- informing apiary owners, limiting the flight of bees (for bees - hazard class 3).
For reservoirs and fish, the drug is not dangerous, the use is allowed.
Toxicity
Fenizan does not affect the processes of growth and development of cereals, it does not accumulate in the soil, therefore, the drug is not dangerous for subsequent crops of the crop rotation.
Compatible with other products?
The drug is allowed for use as part of mixtures with other herbicides, insecticides, antifungal agents. Before spraying, a test of the composition on a small area for toxicity is required.
Storage conditions
Herbicide is stored in utility rooms for chemicals. Permissible temperature range: -30° to +30°. In sealed factory packaging, Phenizan remains active for 2 years.
Similar drugs
Almost exact analogues of the remedy are Cowboy Super and Propolol. They contain the same active ingredients in slightly different proportions. Herbicides have post-emergence activity. Cowboy Super is allowed to be used with liquid fertilizers.
Other herbicides based on the active components of Phenizan:
- dicamba - Lawyer, Diastart, Dimesol, Corleone (two-component);
- chlorsulfuron - Grunge, Octigen.
Drugs do not cause resistance, quickly decompose in the soil.
Chemical weeding eliminates the need for labor-intensive mechanical tillage methods. Phenizan is a reliable, cereal-safe herbicide that provides long-term and comprehensive protection.
