Herbicide Semeron: instructions for use, mechanism of action and consumption rates
Rarely is it possible to grow crops without encountering harmful insects or diseases. Sometimes without the help of chemicals it is not possible to cope. In this case, the herbicide "Semeron" can help.
Composition, dosage form and purpose of the drug
Semeron herbicide is usually available in the form of water-soluble powders or emulsion suspension. It can also be sold as a concentrated solution. The composition of this substance includes desmetrin.
The chemical is used to kill most of the weeds that grow in cabbage beds. But it can be used for other agricultural plants as well. Suitable for both annual and perennial weeds.
Mechanism of action of weed killer
After the beds have been treated with a chemical, the active substance begins to penetrate into the tissues of plants through the root system and foliage. The chemical spreads throughout the plant gradually. After that, weeds begin to wither and gradually die. The visible effect is achieved a few days after the spraying (provided that it did not rain after the procedure).
Application benefits
The benefits of this herbicide include:
- Duration of effect (protective action after spraying plants lasts from 5 to 10 weeks).
- Helps get rid of most of the weeds growing in the area.
- Easy to use.
- Long shelf life.
- After about 6 weeks, the active substance is completely removed from the tissues of the plants that have been treated.
- Slightly toxic to humans and mammals.
- Economic consumption.
Despite all the advantages, the Semeron chemical has one very serious drawback. The substance that is part of the product is dangerous and toxic. With frequent use in large quantities, it leads to environmental pollution, so it is recommended to use the product only in extreme cases, when there are a lot of weeds on the site and other products cannot cope with them.
Before buying a herbicide, you should also consider that the Semeron chemical is not included in the State Register of Pesticides and Agrochemicals that are allowed in Russia.
Consumption rate of Semeron herbicide
The working solution is prepared based on the ratio of 1.5-2 kg of substance per 1 ha. The most optimal consumption of the suspension when spraying beds is from 400 to 600 liters per 1 hectare of land. For one sq. m will need 0.4 l.
Methods for preparing and using the working solution
Before processing, you need to pay attention to the weather forecast. If it should rain in the coming days after treatment, it is better to reschedule it to another day.
According to the instructions, spraying is recommended in the morning (from 7 to 10 am) or in the evening, after sunset.
The optimum air temperature at which the herbicide will be effective is from +18 to +25 degrees. It is best if the weather is warm and calm. Do not spray plants if they have dew on them. It is also forbidden to use a herbicide if the cabbage is damaged by a cabbage fly at the time of spraying. It is not recommended to spray the beds in very hot and rainy weather. If it is not possible to carry out the procedure at another time, after waiting out the heat, then for several days you need to water the beds abundantly every day.
The drug is most effective at an early stage of weed growth. To prevent their occurrence, seedlings are sprayed after 1-2 weeks of planting in open ground. Seed crops are sprayed after 4-6 full leaves appear on the seedlings.
Herbicide Safety
When using the herbicide "Semeron" you need to be extremely careful. This remedy is very dangerous and, if used incorrectly, can lead to poisoning. Before the procedure, you need to wear glasses and a mask so that the solution does not get on the mucous membranes. It is also recommended to spray the beds in fully covered dense clothing.
If the solution gets into the eyes or on the skin, immediately rinse the affected area with plenty of running water. In the event that irritation, redness, itching or any other unpleasant symptoms appear after a while, you should immediately consult a doctor.
Degree of drug toxicity
The herbicide is slightly toxic to humans, mammals and honey insects. In agricultural crops, the active substance of the herbicide does not accumulate. Approximately 6 weeks after the last spraying, the substance is completely eliminated from the plants.
Not recommended for use near open water. This can lead to water pollution and death of fish and other animals. After processing, you can not touch the plants with your hands, and even more so cut the cabbage for eating.
After the procedure, at least 6 weeks must pass before the cabbage is edible.
Compatibility with other products
There is no information about compatibility with other substances for weed control, so it is better not to use Semeron herbicide with other chemicals. It is not known what the combined use of several herbicides can lead to.If you need to use several herbicides at the same time, it is better to take a break of several weeks between treatments. The longer the break, the better.
How to properly store herbicide
It is recommended to store the chemical in a dark, cool place away from pets and young children. Also, do not keep food nearby. The optimum storage temperature is from +5 to +35 degrees. It is undesirable that the sun's rays fall on the product. The shelf life is no more than 3 years. If, after spraying, a ready-made solution remains, it cannot be stored. It will have to be poured.
Analogues of the drug
No similar weed control products available.
