Pigeons are prone to various diseases. Many of them are infectious. Cleanliness in the dovecote is therefore very important for the he alth of pets. This is especially felt if the pigeons are kept in enclosures, not allowed out for walks. "Rhodotium" successfully cures common bird ailments, instructions for use of the drug for pigeons will help their owners who find themselves alone with a single or mass disease of birds.

Composition and release form of "Rodotium"

The drug is produced in Bulgaria by BIOVET, AD in the form of white (yellowish tint is possible) granules packaged in 100 g polymer bottles and 1 kg cans. The active ingredient tiamulin is contained in "Rhodotium" in 45% concentration.

When is it used?

Veterinary drug used in the treatment of pigeons from dysentery, respiratory diseases, mycoplasma infections. Mycoplasma is a microorganism without a cell wall. It is detected by laboratory analysis of smears from the mucous membranes. Various types of mycoplasmas infect the respiratory, genitourinary and circulatory systems of animals, birds and humans. "Rhodotium" prevents protein synthesis in a microbe cell, leading to its death.

Mycoplasmosis of the respiratory tract is especially dangerous, as pathogenic cells can invade all organs that supply the body with oxygen. "Rhodotium" is given to pigeons with mycoplasmal infections. The rest of the birds on the farm are given the drug to drink in order to prevent mass infection.

Dosage and instructions for use of the drug for pigeons

Rhodotium is administered orally to birds by dissolving the granules in water.

It is acceptable to use "Rhodotium" for other animals and birds, if laboratory tests reveal pathogens that are not immune to tiamulin. For a successful course of treatment, it is recommended to adhere to the following simple rules:

  1. In an effort to give the animals the necessary dose to drink, the drug is dissolved in the amount of water that a group of birds drinks per day.
  2. The livestock should not have access to clean water or other fluids.
  3. A fresh batch of solution is prepared every day.
  4. A large amount of drink is prepared in 2 stages. First, the drug is diluted in the third part of the calculated amount of water. After stirring until the granules are completely dissolved, add the remaining liquid.

Pigeons consume 30-60 ml of water per day. Most of all, egg-laying females and nursing mothers need it. In hot weather, thirst increases almost 2 times.

For preventive purposes, the bird is given a 0.0125-0.025% solution of tiamulin, for treatment - 0.025%.

  • eye inflammation and suppuration along the eyelids;

  • pain in the joints of the limbs, their swelling;
  • limp;
  • not wanting to eat;
  • weak reaction to the environment;
  • reddening of the space around the eyes;
  • coughs and sneezes, nasal mucus;
