The Cebro method: beekeeping rules and how to organize hives, practical advice

Beekeeping is becoming more and more popular among people. This is an interesting and profitable business. Vladimir Cebro is known to all beekeepers. He developed his own method of breeding bee colonies. It allows you to significantly increase the collection of honey and optimize the work in the apiary and is especially suitable for beginner beekeepers. Today's detailed story about the essence of the Cebro method.

The essence of the method

To solve the problem of swarming insects that every beekeeper faces, the method of Vladimir Petrovich Cebro allows. The invention of hives of the original design allows you to get strong bee colonies, reduce the incidence of insects.

Beekeeping according to this method made it possible to significantly increase the amount of honey and bee products obtained. The development of a beekeeper's calendar with an indication of ongoing activities by months has optimized the work of experienced and novice beekeepers.

Basic provisions of the methodology:

  • Free three-hull hives are built for insects, in which it is convenient for bees. They are called Cebro hives.
  • Only strong colonies get a good return, weak colonies are eliminated.
  • It is necessary to monitor the quality of food for insects. Strong bee colonies need good food in sufficient quantities. They are left full frames with bee bread and honey.
  • In spring and summer, a three-hull bee house is used; for the winter, a two-hull design is enough. The upper section contains nesting frames, the bottom contains store frames.
  • During the spring growth of bee colonies, an additional upper hive body is built on.
  • In the spring, 2 families are created in a double-hull hive, the insects are divided in two, adding a young strong queen.
  • Woobs are replaced annually.
  • Hives should be free from drafts with good ventilation.
  • Several families unite for wintering, this ensures the strength and productivity of insects in the future.
  • 2 layers are formed from a two-week queen cell to get new bee colonies.
  • In a double-hued hive, a lattice is installed to prevent the queen from entering the upper part of the bee house and preventing swarming.

Such actions allow you to avoid swarming, get strong colonies and a large amount of honey. The standard Cebro hive is a multi-hull design with 2-3 sections, consisting of a 12-frame or 14-frame single-wall Dadan hive, placed in a capacious protective casing.

Building a beehive

A tongue and groove board is taken from which a beehive or a ready-made single-walled dwelling for bees is built. The bottom is attached to it to create an air cushion. The design is placed in a casing made of boards or plywood. A hole for the pallet is made in the back wall of the structure. In the lower part of the structure, bars are attached, on which plywood is fixed for insulation. The created airspace is not filled with insulation.

At the top of the casing, bars are also fixed on the outside, which should protrude slightly from the back of the hive. When opened, the lid of the structure, which is mounted on hinges, will rest on them. One of the side walls of the casing is also fixed on the hinges. This is for service convenience.

Removal of queens

They remove the old queen from the nest. They take out and carefully cut off the combs with brood, leaving those where there are two-day-old larvae. The brood is placed in the center of the bee nest.

Beekeeping without a swarm

To prevent swarming, empty frames are placed in the nest, alternating them evenly with 2 full frames. Filling empty frames with insects prevents swarming.

Organization of wintering bees

Hives of Cebro are stationary. With a sufficient amount of high-quality food, insects do not freeze even in severe frosts. The casing of the hive protects insects from freezing. The entrances are closed, the upper one can be covered with glass, for the lower one a wooden plank is used.

Important: a gap of 5 millimeters is left in the lower notch for space ventilation.

A ball of strong well-fed insects independently provides the necessary heat transfer inside the structure.

Calendar of Cebro

Vladimir Petrovich outlined for months all the actions that a beekeeper needs to perform. That is why the method is especially valuable for beginners.

January

It is necessary to control the amount of feed and death. Adjust the ventilation, if necessary, narrow the entrances for additional insulation of the bee nest. Install parasite baits. Protect entrances from rodents and birds.

February

Monitor the condition of insects. Count families. Provide food for the bees.

March

Inspect the hives and bee colonies. Highlight weak and sick communities. Feed the insects with a mixture of honey and sugar (candy).

April

Clean the hive. Identify families in which the uterus died. Strong families unite with weak ones. Clean up bee nests. Treat insects if necessary. Prepare drinkers and feeders for families.

May

Generate layering. Bring out and update queens. Launch new queens into the hives.

June

Replacing brood queens.

Practical tips and tricks

If you fully follow the advice of Cebro, the presence of strong insects in the apiary, an excellent honey flow and a significant increase in the number of bees is ensured.

  • It is necessary to ensure the ventilation of the bee house so that the insects do not suffer from diseases and dampness. The entrance should not be completely closed.
  • In hives with 2 sections, a trellis should be installed. It will keep the queen from rising up and prevent insects from swarming.
  • Queens are replaced annually. They are bred from strong bee colonies.
  • Podmor is desirable to check for diseases in the laboratory.
  • The fetal uterus is heavier, it drags its abdomen and moves slowly.
  • For better pumping of honey, the frames are heated to +26-27 °С.
  • Electric or manual honey extractors are used for pumping.
  • To remove impurities, honey is passed through a fine sieve, and then through 2-3 layers of gauze.

The Cebro method has proved its effectiveness. It is used not only by beekeepers in the post-Soviet space, but also by beekeepers in Europe and America.
