Transplanting bees into a new hive in the fall: how and at what time of day to perform, rules
Anonim

Performing a transplant of bees into a new hive in the fall is considered an important procedure. At the same time, it remains a serious stress for insects, and therefore is carried out only when necessary. Usually it is required to be performed if the hive is out of order for some reason or if a complete cleaning and disinfection procedure is required. For everything to be successful, it is important to take into account a number of nuances and features.

When and why is it needed?

In most cases, it is recommended to transplant bees in the spring. It is after wintering that most beekeepers have to completely clean the hives and disinfect them.Sometimes it happens that after the winter the house has lost its integrity. It could be damaged by mice or parasites. In such a situation, the bees need to be relocated, and the hive needs to be replaced with a new one.

The optimal period is considered to be the transplantation of insects during the bribe - during the flowering of honey plants. Experts note that this is extremely important. When the honeycomb frames are brought out, they invariably attract the attention of other families. This can lead to theft. However, during the bribe period, the insects are busy with business, and therefore ignore such opportunities.

It is also permissible to change the hives in the fall - before the onset of cold weather. In the summer, this procedure is carried out only on demand. When moving in the spring, it is important to take into account the air temperature. It should be at least +14 degrees. The time of day is of no small importance. It is best to transplant in the morning - before the start of an active summer. This will protect the individuals from stress and confusion.

How to transplant bees?

In order for the transplant to be successful, it must be carried out as quickly as possible. Any delay will result in hypothermia and subsequent death of the brood. At the same time, the beekeeper must make sufficiently measured movements so that they do not harm the bees and their queen.

From packages

Bee package contains at least 1.2 kilograms of bees. These include young, fetal uterus, printed brood. Unlike bee colonies, bee packages can only be purchased in spring. Therefore, the transplant is carried out at this time of the year.

For the procedure, it is recommended to do the following:

  • Prepare the hives for new inhabitants. To do this, they are recommended to be cleaned, disinfected and dried. Of no small importance is the processing of the hives from the inside with a blowtorch. The fact is that bees have a highly developed sense of smell, and alien odors can scare them away.
  • Arrange the hives in advance marked places.
  • Install drinkers and wax frames.
  • Use feeding bees with sugar syrup.
  • Install the bee package in the place of the future hive. In this case, it is recommended to direct the tapholes to the tapholes.
  • Open the notch and give the bees time to get used to and fly around the area.
  • After completing the flight, install the hive in place of the package. It is required to move the frames with the bees that have completed the flight into it. The rest of the insects are recommended to simply sweep there.
  • It is permissible to release the queen only when the bee colony calms down and adapts to a new place.

From a detachable hive

This option is considered very convenient.

To transplant bees, just substitute an additional body.

It is recommended to follow this instruction:

  • Place a stand near the first body and put the beehive cover on it.
  • Remove the body from the hive, which is occupied by bees, and put the lid on.
  • In place of the old case, put a new one.
  • To avoid hypothermia of the nest and death of the brood, half cover the new body with canvas. In this case, it is required to close the part with which no actions are performed.
  • Use the smoker to drive the bees out of the old hive.
  • Take out the frames one by one and rearrange them in the new hive in the same order. It is required to install a fodder frame from the edge, closer to the round notch in the center of the hive, it is worth putting a frame with sowing. It includes fertilized eggs.It is required to establish an open brood in the neighborhood with sowing. It should be close to the stern frame. Closed brood should be placed in close proximity to the feeding frame.
  • Dirty and unusable frames cannot be transferred to a new hive. After being cleaned from bees, they must be placed in a separate box and subsequently treated with special disinfecting compounds.
  • If space is available in the new housing, add a foundation sheet between the feeding frame and the printed brood frame.
  • The bees that remained on the walls of the old building should be moved to a new place along with the frames. To do this, you need to turn the old body over, close the outer hole with a canvas and carefully brush off the insects into the new hive with a brush. If necessary, it is permissible to use a smoker. To transplant non-flying individuals near the notch, it is required to install a plywood sheet and shake off insects on it. Thanks to this, they will be able to independently move to a new hive.During manipulations, it is important to ensure that the uterus is not damaged.
  • With the planned increase in the family within the established framework, it is required to put a store with additional ones.
  • After all work is completed, cover the hive with a film, fix it with a frame, and place a heater on top.

During the transplant, a new house needs to be installed in the place of the old building. Thanks to this, the bees will be able to fly into the new hive. There is no need to do the double job of transplanting.

Features at different times

For a successful insect transplant, it is important to consider the seasonal factor.

Each season has its own characteristics.

Spring

The best time to transplant is in late spring, when the bees have started collecting honey. This will help you avoid theft. All transplant operations must be performed with extreme caution. Even a minor mistake can provoke a mass death of insects and significantly reduce honey collection.

To transplant bees, the inhabited house must be removed from the supports and set aside. In its place, it is recommended to install a clean one. A replacement hive does not have to be new. However, it must be cleaned and disinfected.

Then you need to install a printed honey-pearl frame into the hive. After issuing rations, it is recommended to open the old hive. It is recommended to shake off the bees from worn frames. Unworn frames can be transferred to a new hive.

Summer

The procedure for moving bees to a new hive is extremely rarely carried out in the summer. Usually this should only be done when absolutely necessary.

Autumn

In the autumn, the transplant procedure must be carried out before the onset of cold weather. At the same time, it is important to ensure that the air temperature is at least +14 degrees. For the process to be successful, you should follow these rules:

  • the house should resemble the old one as much as possible;
  • new housing needs to be well cleaned and disinfected;
  • relocate in the morning;
  • do everything as quickly as possible so that the brood does not get too cold;
  • work in dry and warm weather.

Possible problems

It is important to consider that it is impossible to transplant bee colonies without urgent need. This represents a serious stress for them and can lead to the death of insects.Also, do not carry out the procedure in early spring and late autumn. In the spring, the colony is weakened and may not withstand relocation, and in the fall, after the formation of the nest, there is a risk of losing insects during the winter.

Transplanting bees into a new hive must be done according to the rules. At the same time, it is important to take into account the timing of the work and follow the recommendations of specialists.
