Growing

To grow cucumbers in a greenhouse, seeds are planted in the ground in a direct way - without seedlings. On the beds, in the northern regions, a seedling planting characteristic is desirable - this way the harvest will come faster.

Preparation of soil for cucumbers consists in applying mineral fertilizers, digging beds and watering with hot water. After the manipulations, the beds are covered with a film for 7 days. After the polyethylene is removed, rows or holes are formed, and seeds are planted.

Director F1 cucumbers are planted in the greenhouse with seeds germinated in wet gauze. The air temperature in the room at night should not be below +14 degrees. Daytime air temperature should be kept within 22-27 degrees. The soil in the beds is pre-fertilized with mineral mixtures - chicken manure, compost or cow dung.

Seeds are planted in a checkerboard pattern or in a row, while the row spacing is 50 centimeters.

Cucumber care

During the growth of cucumbers fertilize up to 7 times. 3 times before flowering and 4 times during the harvest of vegetables. Thus, the harvest will be stored for a long time and will delight gardeners with excellent taste.

Use as fertilizer for cucumbers:

  • urea,
  • ammonium nitrate,
  • superphosphate,
  • potassium nitrate,
  • manure,
  • chicken manure,
  • wood ash,
  • humus,
  • compost.

These fertilizers are used alone or in combination with each other. An overabundance of dressings is just as dangerous as a lack. Therefore, you need to adhere to the generally accepted rules for feeding cucumbers.

Weeding is as important to getting a quality crop as any other manipulation. After watering, the soil around the plants is loosened. This is done to maintain soil moisture and reduce water consumption for irrigation.

Shaping a bush

Indeterminate varieties of cucumbers Director F1 require the formation of a whip, if growth is not stopped, the green mass will flood the entire greenhouse, and there will be little harvest.

For this manipulation, we count 8 leaves and pinch off the top, so we do with stepchildren. When forming a bush in two and three stems, the main bush is pinched until the desired length is reached, and three stepsons are released. The rest are removed. In greenhouses, a vertical growing method is used, the stem is tied to the crossbar. Thus, access to bushes and fruits will not be limited.

Disease prevention

To prevent infection of bushes with infections, seeds and soil are disinfected with a solution of potassium permanganate before planting. To detect diseases in greenhouses, plants and fruits are constantly inspected for the presence of dark spots, rot and other manifestations of fungal infections. In case of detection, plants and soil are treated with fungicides. The measure will stop the spread of infection and save the harvest.
