Soda from weeds in the garden: rules for use and precautions

Fans of agricultural work during the summer season need to constantly fight weeds not only in the beds, but also in the furrows. After all, "freeloaders" take away moisture and nutrients from useful crops, obscure them. There are many ways to remove unwanted plants. But using soda for weed control in the garden is the most effective remedy.

What do they spray with baking soda?

Soda is a compound of chemical elements called sodium carbonate. It has been used in agriculture for a long time as a safe and natural remedy that helps to eliminate many problems.

Soda powder is sprayed on vegetable and berry plants in household plots:

Sick late blight, various rot. Moreover, preventive treatments begin to be carried out as soon as thick shoots appear.
Attacked by aphids or ants. Moreover, dry white powder helps from the latter. It is scattered on the paths along which hard-working insects run.
To get rid of the wireworm that spoils potatoes. At the bottom of each hole in which the root crop is placed, a teaspoon of sodium carbonate is introduced. Moreover, this procedure is carried out annually. After 3-4 summer seasons, there will be no trace of pests.
To improve the taste of fruits, foliar and root top dressing of tomatoes is carried out.
To increase the sugar content of grapes during fruiting, all vines are sprayed with a 6% solution of the product.
To increase productivity, slow down the aging of cucumbers, bushes are periodically treated with soda solution.
You can destroy slugs and caterpillars by scattering white powder in places where they accumulate. Or spraying these zones with a caustic solution (10 tablespoons of powder are placed on a ten-liter bucket of liquid). Moreover, the processing is carried out daily, until the complete disappearance of uninvited guests.

To all of the above, white powder restores the pH balance of acidic and strongly acidic soils. This problem is especially important in the Non-Chernozem region. After all, there are practically no non-acidified soils here.

How Baking Soda Helps Control Weeds

When sodium carbonate is dissolved in water, an alkaline solution is obtained. It, getting into the ground, quickly changes its acidic environment. And the weeds are dying because they cannot adapt to the changed conditions.

It is better to use soda ash, as it has a stronger concentration than food.

Take 2 teaspoons of the product and dissolve in one liter of warm liquid. This tool is watered problem areas.

Efficiency in use

This method is only very effective when the weeds are just starting to sprout. If the process is started, then white powder treatment will not help.

To enhance the effect, a day after spraying with sodium carbonate, water is carried out in which vinegar essence is dissolved (4 tablespoons per 1 liter of liquid).

Site Rules

During the procedures, the following conditions are observed:

The solution is prepared immediately before use, because within 2.5-3 hours its beneficial properties disappear.
Processing is carried out on a hot, dry day.
Problem areas are watered abundantly, sparing no liquid.
The frequency should be 4-6 times every 10-14 days.

The white powder itself is kept in a place where the humidity is low, as in another room it will quickly become damp and become stone.

Soda powder is also sprinkled on the soil between the tiles of garden paths, and not just beds and furrows.

Precautions

When using white powder, the following rules should be observed:

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Prepare the solution and carry out the processing with rubberized gloves and goggles. After all, soda can cause an allergic reaction or damage overly sensitive skin of the hands.
If the caustic solution gets on the eyeball, then its surface is immediately washed under running cool water.

And watering should be carried out without children and pets. Because their pranks can lead to the fact that the remedy is not on the ground, but on the body of a person or beast.

In any horticultural economy, weeds must be controlled. This can be done with the help of inventory, soil mulching, the use of chemicals. But there are downsides to all of these methods. Only white powder processing does not have them.

And the product is also harmless to pollinating insects, pets, people. Cheap soda is becoming a great alternative to other weed control methods.
