Anonim

Many vegetables of the Siberian selection have a special character. Pink stella is an amazing tomato, it combines several advantages, with practically no drawbacks. That amateur vegetable grower who has planted this variety at least once appreciates the high yield and unpretentiousness. Summer residents include the Pink Stella tomato in their "top list" for annual cultivation.

Star selection

Tomato Pink Stella was bred by well-known Novosibirsk breeders - T. N. Postnikova and V. N. Dederko. A creative team of like-minded scientists has created many popular modern varieties of tomatoes, but Pink Stella has become one of the best.At first, the authors gave this tomato the name Super Pepper, and the tomato immediately earned the love of gardeners. For several years, the Siberian Garden agricultural firm sold the variety under this name.

When the tomato successfully passed state tests, it was time to get a patent for it and include it in the State Seed Register. The word "super peppery" was considered too long and uncomfortable. I had to change the name to "Pink Stella". In 2006, the variety received a patent as an outstanding breeding achievement, and in 2007 it was included in the State Register. By the way, there he appears as a tomato "Pink Stele" with one "l".

In general, stele and stella are different words. Stela - a monument in the form of a tall pillar, Stella - a female name, translated from Latin "star". Keeping in mind the elongated shape of the fruit of the tomato variety we are interested in, it may be more appropriate to talk about the “stele”. But, contrary to the State Register, the name "Stella" took root and went to the people.

Pink stella (star) is a beautiful, sonorous name, surprisingly suitable for such a magnificent variety of tomatoes.

Agrofirm "Siberian Garden" offers author's seeds with the name "Pink Stella". Many amateur gardeners are unaware of the renaming and keep looking in stores for the Super Pepper tomato variety from Siberian Garden, which is now available as Pink Stella. Some seed companies sell Stella Pink tomatoes.

Variety features

Detailed characteristics and description of the variety reveal a whole range of its remarkable advantages. They appear not only on the Siberian land. This is the largest of the early tomatoes and the earliest of the large ones.

Bush

Plants grow well in open-air beds. They can be planted in greenhouses as a low compactor. The variety is extremely unpretentious, it works in any weather. Not too picky about agricultural technology. May suffer from late blight.

The leaves are large, dark green, sitting on thick short petioles. Powerful leaf apparatus provides excellent photosynthesis and excellent work on the crop.

Tomato stalk grows to a height of about half a meter. At the beginning of the growing season, it is of the standard type, thick, stocky, upright, compressed, extremely compact, then it becomes a little sprawling. Due to determinism, this tomato stops growing on its own by tying several brushes. Early pasynkovanie (before the first brush) accelerates ripening and increases productivity. Further shaping is not required.

Fruiting

Tomato ripening dates are mid-early.

Brushes begin to lay quite early - after a rapid increase of 7 - 8 leaves. Further, the ovaries are often located through the leaf, which ensures excellent yields. In each brush, 3 - 5 and even 7 tomatoes are successfully tied. The ovaries rapidly increase in size.

The weight of the fruits of the Pink Stella is on average 130 - 150 grams. In the first brush, they are much larger - 250 - 350 grams each (record-breaking even 400 - 500 grams). On the upper brushes, tomatoes in shape and size resemble the fruits of the Fighter variety (Buyan red) with a mass of 70 - 90 grams.

The shape of the tomatoes is elongated-pepper-shaped, narrowed down, often slightly pointed. The first, largest fruits are kidney-shaped or heart-shaped, slightly flattened laterally.

The color is uniform, without a green spot at the stalk. The color is very beautiful, appetizing - light raspberry or rich pink. The skin is not too hard. The pulp is pink, has an average density - moderately fleshy, moderately juicy. There are very few seeds and they are small. The taste of tomatoes is great - dessert, sweetish.

The yield of the variety is stable over the years. Pink Stella bears fruit well in any summer, regardless of natural disasters.Tomato clusters successfully knit and grow quickly in a wide variety of weather. The minimum return per square meter is 7 kilograms. Really get one and a half times more.

Destination

Pink Stella is the most unpretentious of sweet salad varieties The tomato is ideal for consumption in its natural form in fresh vegetable salads. The only drawback of the variety (inherent, however, in all delicious salad varieties) is the low keeping quality of ripe fruits. Green tomatoes ripen well, but they are not stored ripe for a long time.

In terms of size and shape, Pink Stella tomatoes from the top brushes are quite suitable for pickling and pickling. True, due to the thin skin and delicate texture of the pulp, when heated, the fruits often burst. The most successful will be the canning of tomatoes in pieces in gelatin - this is just for fleshy varieties. A thick juice is obtained tasty and sweet: if a large crop has grown, it cannot be allowed to deteriorate. You can make “horseradish” (“gorloder”) or cook ketchup, tomato paste.

Agricultural machinery details

No matter how unpretentious the variety is, the tomato fully reveals its potential only with good care. The pink stella, being large-fruited, is very responsive to many agricultural practices.

Seedling period

In the description of Pink Stella tomatoes, it is necessary to mention a valuable feature: tomatoes are extremely compact in seedlings. Plants tolerate shading well, develop normally even on the northern and western windows of city apartments. Young seedlings of the Fighter (Buyan) red and Buyan yellow varieties behave in a similar way. The stems are stocky, with close internodes, broad foliage. Only Pink Stella has larger, slightly curly leaves.

The tops of the seedlings stretch a little and become thinner only with strong thickening, so do not be late with picking. It is carried out after the growth of one or two true leaves. Extreme heat can also cause abnormal growth. No need to overfeed the seedlings, you can do without top dressing.

A common mistake novice gardeners make is too early sowing seeds of the Pink Stella. In the case of this variety, overgrown seedlings are much worse than undergrown ones. The age of plants when transferred to the ground should not exceed 50 days. Thus, the seeds must be sown two months before planting. If you first place the plants under shelters, then the approximate time for planting in the conditions of the Middle Strip and Siberia is the middle or end of May. So, the sowing is done on March 15 - 20.

When planting directly in open ground (June 10 - 20), they sow even later - in mid-April.

In the ground

Determining role in the care of the Pink Stella variety is acquired by two circumstances. It must be remembered that this variety is determinant and large-fruited:

  1. 4-5 bushes are placed on one square meter of beds.
  2. Garter plants are required, otherwise the tomatoes will fall or break under the weight of heavy fruits. Each brush does not need to be tied, it is strong enough.
  3. It is highly desirable to pinch below the first brush. This will speed up the fruiting and ripening, increase the size of the tomatoes and the overall yield. Remove excess shoots emerging from the ground, and all side branches growing from the leaf axils below the first ovary.
  4. It is not necessary to stepson above the first brush.
  5. There is no need for topping (removing the growing point) in August. The bushes complete their growth on their own.
  6. Feeding and watering of tomatoes is carried out as usual.
  7. It is important to observe crop rotation, take protective measures against phytophthora.

Pink Stella is not a hybrid, but a variety, so you can leave the fruits from the best bushes for seeds. To do this, it is recommended to choose he althy tomatoes with typical varietal characteristics, preferably from the second brush.

Experience of amateur vegetable growers

Good reviews from different parts of the country speak of the exceptional ecological plasticity of the Siberian variety.

Markina Olga (Myski, Kemerovo Region): “For me, Pink Stella is number one tomato. I've been planting them for several years now. I noticed only one drawback: they do not store for a long time. But the tomatoes are so delicious that we eat them quickly, because the family is big.”

Vershinin Yu. P. (village of Vershinino, Tomsk region): “We have cold places, around the taiga. Not all tomatoes are good. I tried many varieties, ordered from all over the country. Only the most precocious varieties blushed at the root, but their taste was not liked. And the Pink Stella conquered in the first year.I bought the seeds of this tomato in the store, I was tempted by the description. It turned out that the truth was written on the pack, and this is a rarity these days. It rained in July, but this did not interfere with the harvest.”

The Gurevich family (Chekhov, Moscow region): “We recently moved to the Moscow region from Siberia and brought with us the seeds of our favorite pink tomatoes. Pink Stella is the kind of tomato that will probably grow anywhere.”

Goncharenko Yulia Andreevna (Chelyabinsk): “At first, the Pink Stella was grown by the neighbors. I was fond of our Ural varieties. But in the cold summer, they let me down, and the neighbor's tomatoes were on top. I bought a Pink Stella tomato from them for seeds and for three years now I have been collecting so much that I have enough for myself and for sale.”

Many gardeners note that it is profitable to grow the Pink Stella for the tomato seedling trade. Chunky, profusely flowering bushes are snapping up very willingly.
