Description of the apple tree Teremok

The Teremok apple variety allows you to harvest fruits just in time for the beginning of autumn. Tree of medium height with a flat-rounded crown. The crown is not prone to thickening, but the main branches are quite wide in relation to the trunk.Fruits are formed on kolchatka or annual growths. Flowering is plentiful, falls in mid-May. The variety is partially self-fertile, but if there are pollinators nearby, the yield increases several times. Teremok is an early-growing variety, on a medium-sized rootstock it begins to bear fruit already in the third year after planting. A mature tree yields 40-50 kg of high quality yield.

The weight of one apple reaches 200 grams. The shape of the fruit is conical, the symmetry is slightly broken. The color of the skin is distinguished by a beautiful red-orange blush located around the entire perimeter of the fruit.

The harvested crop is suitable for transportation over long distances. It is consumed fresh and used to make juices.

Apple tree Teremok does not need special care, but gratefully responds to the following activities:

  • moderate feeding;
  • regular watering;
  • pest prevention;
  • treatment of the trunk circle;
  • sanitary pruning;
  • crown shaping;
  • prevention measures to protect the tree from rodents.

When these activities are carried out, the Teremok apple tree will delight you with a plentiful harvest of fruits that will fully correspond to their varietal characteristics.

History of Breeding

Apple variety Teremok is the result of many years of work of domestic scientists, employees of the Institute of Horticulture UAAS. The tree was obtained by crossing the well-known hybrid with excellent characteristics 25 / 2-D and the equally popular Grive Rouge variety. In 1999, this variety was presented to the attention of gardeners in Polesye and the forest-steppe zone of Ukraine, where it began to be successfully cultivated.

Additional characteristics of the variety

Teremok has a lot of positive characteristics that distinguish it from its competitors:

  • precocity;
  • excellent commercial qualities;
  • increased resistance to fungal diseases;
  • excellent taste;
  • shippability.

No significant shortcomings were found in the variety. Gardeners' reviews indicate that Teremok does not have increased frost resistance and cannot be grown in regions with harsh climatic conditions.

Mature tree size

Teremok belongs to medium-sized varieties of apple trees, so its maximum height reaches 5 meters. On a rootstock, this figure does not exceed 3 meters. The tree grows quickly, tends to lose its main conductor, so its lower branches hang down a little.

Annual growth estimated as average.

Fruiting frequency and yield

Apple trees of the Teremok variety bear fruit stably, annually. Upon reaching the age of five, the tree is able to produce a crop of 12 kg. Up to 60 kg of fruits with high commercial and taste qualities are harvested from an adult plant. Harvesting lasts from early to mid-September. In storage, apples do not lose their commercial and taste qualities for a month, and in the refrigerator - three times longer. It is important that the fruits do not overripe. Otherwise, they will retain their external characteristics, but the structure of the pulp and taste will be spoiled.

Fruit evaluation

The pulp of Teremok apples is very tender, tasty, juicy, has a pleasant, but not strong aroma. In cross section, it has a beautiful yellowish color. The taste of apples is sweet and sour, tasters rated it at 4.2-4.5 points. The fruits are great for making apple wine.

Winter hardiness

The description of the Teremok apple variety indicates its good winter hardiness. However, in some regions, with a strong and prolonged drop in temperature, the tree freezes slightly. This is evidenced by the reviews of practicing gardeners who personally grew this variety of apples on their plot.

Diseases and pests

Teremok apple tree shows increased resistance to scab and powdery mildew. But it often becomes a delicacy for such insects and pests:

  • apple sucker;
  • apple aphid;
  • hawthorn;
  • apple codling moth;
  • apple beetle.

Apple tree is sometimes affected by such diseases:

  • fruit rot;
  • black cancer;
  • rust.

In order to prevent troubles and save the future harvest, preventive measures should be taken in a timely manner, whitewash the tree trunk with slaked lime, treat the apple tree with Bordeaux mixture. Under adverse weather conditions, such activities are extremely important.

If signs of any disease or pest impact are noticed, apple trees are sprayed with special preparations, treated with insecticides or fungicides. In case of severe damage to individual parts of the tree, they are immediately removed and burned.

Best Growing Region

Teremok apple tree is suitable for growing in the climatic conditions of the middle zone. In this case, it is better to give preference to clonal rootstocks that can not only produce an earlier harvest, but also limit the height of the plant. Most often, gardeners choose medium-sized or dwarf options.

Teremok apple trees are grown in Polissya, the forest-steppe zone of Ukraine, as well as in the Republic of Belarus.
