Haligan herbicide: instructions for use, mechanism of action and consumption rates
Galigan is a systemic herbicide, which, according to the instructions, is used to control annual dicotyledons (mainly broadleaf) and some grassy weeds. The drug of selective action is used for pre-emergence and post-emergence treatment. Galigan is used in the cultivation of onions, garlic, sunflowers. The herbicide has a double effect on weeds: contact and soil.
Composition and form of weed control
Galigan herbicide contains an active substance - oxyfluorfen.The drug is produced in the form of a concentrated emulsion. The manufacturer is the Israeli company "Adama Rus". The herbicide is sold in 5.10 liter plastic cans. Before use, the drug is diluted with water, in the proportions indicated in the instructions.
How does the drug work?
The active substance (oxyfluorfen) penetrates through the leaves and roots into weeds. This remedy needs sunlight for its inhibitory activity. The herbicide begins to act already 3-4 hours after spraying: it disrupts the chemical processes in the cells, stops the development and growth of the plant.
The first signs of damage (chlorosis, necrosis) and the action of the herbicidal agent can be seen on the 3-4th day. Completely weeds die in 1-2 weeks.
Herbicide Benefits
Benefits of using Galigan:
- acts on weeds by contact and creates a soil herbicide screen for long-term protection;
- does not require crop rotation restrictions;
- one-time ground processing of the field is required.
Consumption rates for different plants
Galigan herbicidal agent is used in the following dosages (at a working fluid flow rate of 200-300 l/ha):
- For onions (except onions per feather) and garlic: 0.5-1 l/ha.
- For sunflower: 0.8-1 l/ha.
How to prepare the working mixture?
Herbicidal solution for spraying the field is prepared from water and Galigan, which is taken in the required amount. The herbicide is diluted on the day of treatment. Spraying the field is carried out using a tractor sprayer.
First, its tank is filled 1/3 with clean, uncontaminated water. Then pour in the amount of herbicide measured per filling of the tank.The mixture is stirred with a stirrer. At the end, the rest of the water is added to the tank and the solution is mixed again. The sprayer is refueled and the herbicide mixture is prepared at a special site.
How to apply Galigan herbicide correctly?
The field is sprayed with the prepared solution, if there is no precipitation, wind, the air temperature is from 8 to 25 degrees Celsius. The herbicide must not be applied if the main crop is under stress due to drought, frost, nutrient deficiency, disease, insect infestation. Processing is not carried out in the morning and evening hours, when the plants are wet with dew.
On sunflower crops, Galigan is used before the emergence of seedlings of the main crop. Plantings of onions and garlic can be sprayed in the early (in the phase of 2-4 leaves) periods of development of these vegetables. The herbicide is used to control weeds that are in the stage of active growth (in the phase of 2 to 8 true leaves).
Safety rules for use
Field work on spraying with Galigan pesticide is recommended to be carried out in a protective suit, mask or respirator, rubber boots and gloves. Persons over 18 years of age who do not have medical contraindications are allowed to process the field. After working with the herbicide, wash your face and hands well with soap and water, rinse your mouth with soda solution.
Drug toxicity
Galigan's herbicidal agent has hazard classes 2 and 3. The drug is not toxic to humans, animals, birds, fish, beneficial insects. It is not recommended to irrigate the field during the active summer of bees. The drug is not allowed to be used in the protected area. Herbicide, in the dosages indicated in the instructions, does not show phytotoxicity.
Compatibility with other products
Galigan is compatible with other herbicides based on glyphosate or acetochlor. When using several pesticides together, the dosage is reduced. Galigan can be used with insecticides and fungicides for complex field protection.
All chemicals must be tested for physical miscibility before being used together.
How to store the herbicide?
The drug is stored in a warehouse specially designed for pesticides. The warehouse must comply with regulatory enactments, sanitary and fire safety requirements. The herbicide itself should be stored undiluted, in tightly sealed and undamaged original packaging.
The optimum storage temperature is +5…+20 degrees Celsius.
The drug must be fully used before the expiration date, that is, for 3 years from the date of manufacture.
Are there any analogues?
Galigan has analogues with a similar composition and principle of action. For example, Goal, Farmer. These are systemic pesticides with selective activity that destroy annual and some cereal weeds in garlic, onion, and sunflower plantations.
